Other Notes: CJP's mom, Keely, writes, "This is my son CJP. He was diagnosed with Autism at 20 months of age. He started regressing at 15-16 months old. He had been saying 4 or 5 words, looking through books, and imitating. Then all of a sudden he stopped doing all those things and become a child that cried 24-7, lived in his own world if you will. He began flapping his arms, squealing, not speaking! Then came the stimming, and lots of it. So we finally started a home ABA [applied behavior analysis] team. That was not consistent enough for him, so we decided to find him a center where he could get 30-35 hours per week of ABA. That is where he is now, and he is getting ready to start extra speech therapy and a feeding clinic in a few weeks.

We just had our first DAN! doctor appointment and the first set of tests (OAT, Urine Toxic, Microbial Oats) done through Great Plains and Doctors Data labs. We will see the doctor again in a few weeks to find out the results and see what lists of supplements and vitamins he places him on. He has already mentioned placing CJP on a special diet, which is so costly.

With the biomedical treatment, we truly feel that by getting out the toxins and bad things in his body and supplementing good things back in, he will become healthy again and be able to learn at a normal level. We are trying to do all that we can to make our son, CJP, better. With your help maybe we can.

This loan would help us out tremendously! My husband had to quit his job (back in January) so that he can take our son to his therapy appointments that are all over an hour away (drives that 2 times each day). I stay home with our other son who is almost 1 year old and attend Nursing School. CJP is a very sweet, intelligent little boy who just needs some extra help getting him back to his old self, the CJP we knew... before Autism!"

I've been meaning to touch base with you.

Things are WONDERFUL!

Please redistribute the funds to those who made a loan on Will's behalf, as over the course of the year I have done a lot of research and in all of it, we have found some things that have worked very well for Will, and this September he is actually starting grade 1 in regular school! We have detoxed his little body, and he is making great strides every day. He is now completely potty trained except for the occasional accident at night time (but all kids do that) and is actually beginning to write.

He will be entering public school completely uncoded other than for his speech, which he still has some difficulties with, but given he was so late to talk, I think it will only improve with working with his Occupational Therapy. ["Uncoded" in Canada means he will be in a mainstream class with no indicators on his permanent records of being autistic. The only thing that will be on his permanent school records is a slight speech delay.]

It is very exciting for us for him to have made such progress this year, and even our youngest son Matthew, who we have been treating in the same manners, has come a long way, and starts in a special ed preschool this September.

As soon as we found out about Joe, we immediately got him all the services he was eligible for and then some. Not too long after his diagnosis of autism and epilepsy we started biomedical protocol and a day has not gone by without it and I would like for it to stay that way as he is recovering in front of my eyes.

I need this loan because our health care system in not geared to cover services that are biomedical in nature. And most importantly because we found out while he was young and we started biomedical while he was young, he is recovering and I am afraid that if we stop now, so will his progress.

Lil Joe deserves a fighting chance as do all children who do not have a voice. I am his voice, and I know by looking in his eyes that he wants recovery."

He recently learned to ride his bike, and learned the alphabet in one day! Jaden loves people and he loves animals. Jaden's autism manifests itself through communication and sensory needs. Other Notes: Izaiah's mom, Moranda, writes, "Izaiah has changed my life more than I ever thought imaginable! He brings joy into my life during the toughest times. Having such a loving little boy to come home to everyday could very well be one of the only things that keeps me going.

Since he was right about 1 year old, I had that itching feeling that something was not quite right, but I brushed it off. Family members would mention "Boys just don't develop language as quickly as little girls, he'll catch on!" I remember when someone first asked me if I thought it could be autism. "No way! Look at how happy he is! He just looks so normal. He's so affectionate, don't all children with autism hate to be cuddled?" If only someone could have told me back then how WRONG those stereotypes are!

Fast forward until August 19th, 2009. At the end of Izaiah's appointment with the developmental pediatrician, I am too scared to say anything, so I wait for him to speak first. "Izaiah is autistic." I must have look stunned, because the next thing he says is, "Are you surprised?" I want to scream! "Am I surprised?! I've been looking for an answer for two years! Everyone was so sure there was NO WAY he could be autistic!" On the drive home was when I realized it... they all knew. All of the Early Intervention aides knew, the teachers, the speech therapists, they all knew. Why didn’t they just tell me?

Since that day Izaiah has been working hard towards a full recovery! He was chosen to receive donations from a local fundraiser to receive Applied Behavior Analysis therapy, and I am so thankful for that. He only receives 4 hours a week, but that's 4 more hours than I could afford! He loves to slide and go to the park, especially this time of the year when he can throw leaves! He loves to play the drums on our Wii, and he loves going to see his grandmother. He is just learning to point to things, and he loves pointing out anything with numbers and letters! At 3 years and 2 months old, Izaiah is still completely non-verbal, but even though he can't say it with words, I KNOW how much he loves me!

I am pursuing Biomedical treatment because after reading so many great recovery stories and books about Biomedical treatment, I am certain it is a key to unlock the mysteries of autism! Izaiah has been on the Gluten and Casein free diet for 4 months already! We made slow progress until he had every trace eliminated from his diet, switched shampoo, toothpaste, lotions, everything!

We need this loan because without it there would be no way for Izaiah to continue on a path towards recovery with a Biomedical approach. Unfortunately, I am not able to come up with the money that would be needed for this appointment, especially around the holidays.

If I could get just one thing for Christmas, It would be for Izaiah to be able to have this appointment!"

Note: After posting the original loan request for $1,000, Ayden's mom contacted Lend4Health saying that she had recently learned about zeolites for detoxification of heavy metals and chemicals. She wrote, "It is safer than chelation; the only side effects could be a headache & that's only if you don't drink enough water. Zeolites are from volcanic substances and it's honeycomb structure is negatively charged & attracts all toxins, captures them, & safely carries them out of the body. I've been researching different brands. A doctor told me Ayden would need to do it for about 3 months." As such, this loan request was changed from $1,000 to $315.

After sending out one hair analysis waiting a month then calling the doctor, it turned out he hadn't gotten it. So, I applied for a refund on the Money Order I had gotten for it. After several weeks we did it again. Finally, last week we got the results back and am still waiting on the Dr.'s recommendations.

Other Notes: Gabriel and Christopher's mom, Karen, writes, "Gabriel is 4 years old and was diagnosed with autism at age 3. Christopher is 3 years old and was diagnosed with autism at age 2 1/2. Neither one is able to talk, feed themselves, or understand anything, not even their own names. The only way they can communicate is to lead you by the hand. We have been going to speech and occupational therapy since diagnosis with no results.

Gabriel is more severe and has more complications. He has constant belly aches, especially at night, or anytime he does go to sleep he wakes up screaming and cries until the pain stops. All I can do is rock him and cry with him. He has had parasites before. He also has very severe rashes that constantly itch (see photo above). He scratches so much that the rash gets infected and leaves scars all over him. He constantly cries from this also. We have been to the doctor so many times for these problems and even to an allergy specialist with no results. Gabriel also has thick, yellow, brittle finger nails and toe nails (as of an elderly person) and severe body odor. Christopher has the belly aches and rashes but not as often or as severe. We are now on the gluten/casein free (GFCF) diet.

After seeing the DAN! (Defeat Autism Now!) doctor, I learned that there is help for my kids and I DON'T have to see them suffer everyday. The only problem is coming up with the money all at one time to get these tests done. I am asking for help to get my sons these tests as soon as possible. The tests are 630.00 for each child. It would take me 6 months to save enough to get these done for them. I'm praying you all can help me to go ahead and get this done for my sons so they don't have to suffer for 6 more months. I can make payments of $200.00 a month and have this paid back in 6 months.

It is so hard to watch your children suffer everyday and know that they can be helped if money weren't the issue. Their DAN! doctor believes that major improvements will be seen after starting treatments after the tests are done. They are beautiful children who deserve to be pain-free and happy like other children. Please help me make this possible for them without them having to wait for 6 more months. Thanks."

November 16, 2009: Thank you from Camille: "I apologize for taking so long to send this to you...life has gotten in the way! I can't tell you what this loan means to us, so I thought illustrating it and showing what Emily goes through will help show how much this means to her and our family.

Four nights ago, Emily woke up in the middle of the night screaming for the second time in the past week. She was holding her stomach and saying "owie." She had explosive diarrhea (which resulted in a messy bed!) after being constipated all day. She was in so much pain. This example is something that happens on a weekly basis. Normally, after cleaning her up, I would have held her and told her that I was sorry, that I don't know what to do or what hurts her so badly. I would have told her that I wish I could take it all away and make her feel better to where this doesn't happen again, week after week. I would have cried alongside her, feeling helpless.

Not this time. This time, I was able to tell her that I know her belly hurts and that we are going to get her help. I told her all about the nice people who lent us money to take her to the specialty doctor. I told her how we were going to do everything that can possibly be done to help her belly feel better. I told her that there were people who loved her and were doing what they could to help us to get her help. I told her about Dr. Morgan and about all the kids he is helping, just like her. I told her that her appointment was coming up soon and there hopefully wouldn't be many more nights like this.

I don't think she understood most of what I was telling her (although she surprises me every day with what she does understand), but it made me feel better knowing that seeing a DAN! doctor was going to be a possibility. Instead of feeling helpless, I felt full of hope and love, knowing that loved ones and perfect strangers helped make seeing a doctor that could help her a possibility.

On the day that we found out our loan had been funded, Emily and I had a dance party. We did the happy dance over and over again. I told her that we are going to be able to take her to the doctor that will help make her belly feel better and I put out her markers and construction paper. I have attached her drawing and thought it appropriate to share it with you and those that funded our loan. More times then not, she draws sad faces. I think because she doesn't feel good most of the time. Knowing that she was going to see a doctor to help her belly must have made her happy... "Emily" in the picture, is smiling.

November 27, 2009: Update from Camille: "I wanted to let you know how the DAN! appointments went with Dr. Morgan.

It was GREAT! We went over the paperwork I filled out and Emily's history that I wrote and such. I told him that so far in the month of November, Emily didn't eat food 12 days out of 19. Not only was he shocked at the severity of Emily's hunger strikes, he also realized very quickly that something was severely wrong with Emily's GI/immune system. He couldn't understand why Phoenix Children's Hospital did not do more and dig deeper. He looked at the red circles under her eyes and knew he was looking at a sick girl. PCH didn't even do a thorough endoscopy and didn't do a full colonoscopy which he was really upset about. He thinks that they could have found something if they looked, which has been my feeling all along. I felt that there was so much more that they could do, but instead we got the brush off and told that it was an "autism thing" and that we need to get working with a better feeding therapist.

He ordered a stool analysis, blood work and a urine test to see if we could find what was happening. He said that we would only do the necessary tests first instead of doing everything, to not only help ease the cost of it all, but also so we don't do unnecessary tests and waste money. We will let the tests guide us on what to do next. I thought that was not only wise, but a great plan. He thinks that she has major food sensitivities other then what we already know about, along with either a bacterial infection/overgrowth or a fungal infection/overgrowth. Her immune system is elevated and working harder then it should, which explains the fevers every other week (or every other day in some cases).

He also started her on a multi that is good for kids on the spectrum, a probiotic (although we can't start it until after the stool test) and an EFA. He loaded me up with books and studies to look at. He also put me in touch with a feeding therapist that works with ASD kids that have severe feeding issues/hunger strikes. Unfortunately, she is not contracted with the state, so we are unable to afford her. She did send me some info though and invited us to hear her speak at some upcoming events.

The most important thing that he did was give us hope. Hope that something could be done, or looked into further. He was confident that with a little more digging, we could find the cause of her pain and help ease it. He said that he thinks once the pain is gone, we will need to teach Emily to eat again. He feels that she has associated eating with pain and does the minimum food intake to just stay alive.

So, Eric and I were trying to figure out how to pay for the tests, because we need to do them soon. Thankfully, his father has said that he will pay for all of her testing. He read the reports and realize it is a real issue. He was impressed with the level of expertise and thoroughness that Dr. Morgan gave Emily.

We see him again in 3 weeks to go over tests and the very detailed food/poop/behavior journal that we were asked to complete in the mean time. I feel like we are going in the right direction and look forward to Emily's healing journey.

Thank you so much for all that you have done and continue to do for so many families. With all of the negativity and everything that is happening in our world, I think we have lost faith in people. We seem to focus on the bad, crime shows that depict unspeakable things are on our televisions every night, the news is full of stories of hate, despair and grief. You and the lenders at Lend4Health have helped me to believe in people again and the great things that a small community can do.

Update from Camille: "Emily is doing great. We were unable to continue with her DAN! [Defeat Autism Now!] protocol, due to financial reasons. We are still exploring medically at this point though because she has insurance that will pay for it. My husband lost his job in October, and before that we were still playing catch up from the last time he was unemployed.

We are seeing a very good GI doctor that was recommended to us from our local Autism Society of America group. We are in the exploratory phase of food allergies, etc. Hopefully, we will get her allergies and diet under control. From the little that we have done, she is showing great progress with her chronic constipation. She is finding relief AND a very happy kid. We haven't had a tummy screaming fit in quite some time, so we are very grateful for that.

The DAN! doctor that we saw with the Lend4Health loan was incredible. He helped me to find her signals of something going on, and how to help. Although we cannot continue with him at this time, we are grateful for the opportunity to have seen him. We also were able to pay for my son to be seen by him to help him with his chronic diarrhea issue. Both kids are still having some issues, but it is looking much, much better.

On another note, we did have our baby! Benjamin was born 8 pounds 14 ounces. Due to complications during birth though, he was airavac'd to the NICU at Phoenix Childrens Hospital. He is still there, but we hope to have him home soon. It has been hard on all of us, but we cannot wait to have our whole family under one roof! He was not breathing at birth and was deprived of oxygen for some time. We are seeing developmental delays now and will have to continue to monitor him as he grows. He is at risk now for Cerebral Palsy in addition to his already "at risk" status for Autism, since our other two have it. We are happy that he is finally here!

He was non-verbal, made no eye contact, and rejected our attempts to be affectionate with him. We spent two years doing early intervention, the gluten-free casein-free [GFCF] diet (with many infractions) and applied behavioral analysis [ABA]. Despite having toxic levels of arsenic in his little 4 year old body he is learning to speak and play! His pediatrician would ignore his arsenic levels and we want to do something about them right now! How much more could he learn if he didn't have arsenic and lead in his body?!

Sevyn's 30 sessions of HBOT were donated by Dr. Freedman. He has done so much to help us, but now we need to take the next step to help Sevyn get well, and this loan will allow us to get him going on the path to optimal health. Sevyn is a precious boy and deserves a chance at a healthy life!"

December 9, 2009: Update from Tiffany: "Sevyn is doing great! We just started a new ABA-based home schooling program called ReThink Autism! I wrote them and was able to get a scholarship for Sevyn. We are getting things underway and slowly adding all the new vitamins and supplements the loan helped us pay for as well as getting all the lab work done (it took a while to find the right pediatric urine collection bags). Sevyn is responding wonderfully and continues to make great progress! He's still doing HBOT [hyperbaric oxygen therapy] 4 days a week for an hour a day and is on a strict GF/CF [gluten-free casein-free] diet. We are so proud of him and ever thankful to everyone who helped us reach our goal through Lend4Health. We'll continue to update as we go! Thanks again everyone!"

June 9, 2010: Update from Tiffany: "Dear Lenders, We wanted to thank you all again for helping us help Sevyn heal. He's doing well with his home schooling curriculum and potty training. He's adjusting to the addition of a new sibling to the family because we welcomed a little girl to the clan on April 28th! Sevyn was home for the water birth of his little sister! He said, "It's a girl! It's alive!" when he saw the new baby. It was very sweet.

With the new addition we've had extra expenses and we will be paying our installment a little late this month. We hope you all understand. We want you all to know that we really appreciate our Lend4Health lenders and your generous contribution to our child’s wellbeing.

With the loan we were able to have several tests done (and purchase needed supplements) as well as some follow up testing, and the test results are all finally in. Sevyn's lab work shows high levels of heavy metals in his system, yeast overgrowth, and a toxic bacterial infection in his gut. Sevyn’s local DAN! Doctor has referred us to another DAN! (Dr. Leigh Ann Chapman www.chapmannd.com) in Portland who has more experience treating these kinds of issues. Dr. Chapman is a naturopath and has many years of experience in the care and treatment of children on the autism spectrum. We will be paying for this appointment out of pocket as well as all travel expenses for our family of five. We are struggling to pay the bills and cover these extra expenses, plus all of Sevyn’s supplements, ongoing therapies and sensory needs, and organic GF/CF/SF foods.

We promise we will always make our monthly installments! It is very important to us and we always factor the installments into our budget. Dear Lend4Health Lenders:

We are so happy to finally be paying off our Lend4Health loan in its entirety. Sevyn has made so much progress since we began this journey and we are VERY thankful for the support along the way! Our whole family has progressed with him, where there was once darkness, now there is abundant light! Sevyn is very close to being fully potty trained and his gut issues are much better, as long as we maintain his gluten free, casein free, soy free, organic and overall healthy diet. He's happy and in a typical kindergarten class 70-100% of his day. He has a wonderful 1:1 instructional assistant and has been bonding with her, his teacher, and his peers at school.

He did 5 months of Qigong Sensory training and it was another intervention that REALLY pushed him forward into a MUCH more verbal place -- a place where he stims so much less and the sensory issues are few!! He is still working with Dr. Chapman, the naturopathic DAN doctor in Portland. She'll be seeing him again soon and hopefully increasing his MB12 shots so we can give him one every day. The days when he has his MB12 shots and Qigong are the best days for us all, so we're looking forward to seeing that side of him everyday.

None of this would have been possible or will continue to be possible for Sevyn if people don't believe he can heal and that kids like him deserve a chance to get better. Not just to be swept under the rug, labeled as low functioning and tossed aside, but to be recognized as an amazing individual, with unique skills and talents, and all the potential in world!

Thank you all again for helping us make our dreams of hearing our son speak, potty training him, ending the self abuse, seeing him ride a bike and sleep through the night, and seeing him off to a typical kindergarten as a conversational individual come true!
