Make a Microloan for 6-yr old Christian's Health!

This loan has been disbursed!

First Posted: April 30, 2010

Name: Christian

Age: 6 years old

Location: Washington, USA

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $4,000

Loan Needed For: Partial payment of 40 HBOT [hyperbaric oxygen therapy] dives

Repayment Terms: 24 monthly payments ($166.67/month)

Other Notes: Christian's mom, Tanya, writes, "Christian is our only son and the light in our lives. He was diagnosed with autism at the age of 3 although he had always been very quiet and to himself. He has such a hilarious personality and he is such a character! Through therapy at school, he has really started to come out of his shell and we just KNOW with HBOT, he'll have a much stronger chance at living a "normal" life. I have always whispered, "Do you know I love you?" in his ear and am just waiting for him to verbally tell me, "Yes, and I love you too, Mama." We are fortunate enough that he is very lovable and affectionate, and can't wait to hear it in words as well. Mother's Day 2009 I heard him call me "Mama" for the first and only time. It was one of the best days of my life. I'm excited with the anticipation of what comes next in his progress.

I heard about Lend4Health from a wonderful woman who is an Autism Advocate by the name of Jana Troutt. During a time when I felt very alone dealing with Autism, Jana reached out with such a caring hand to let me know that everything was going to be ok, and that I am definitely NOT alone."

Make a Microloan for 6-yr old Andrew's Health!

This loan has been fully funded!

First Posted: May 27, 2010

Name: Andrew

Age: 6 years old

Location: Missouri, USA

Diagnosis: Sensory Processing Disorder/Sensory Integration Disorder

Loan Sought: $2,000

Loan Needed For: HBOT [hyperbaric oxygen therapy] dives

Repayment Terms: 18 monthly payments ($111/month)

Other Notes: Andrew's mom, Dana, writes, "Andrew was born 15 weeks prematurely due to complications from Twin-to-Twin Transfusion Syndrome. He weighed a whopping 16.7oz at birth. We spent 4 1/2 months in the NICU where Andrew survived multiple surgeries, blood transfusions, infections, a pulmonary hemorrhage, brain bleed, spinal tap and many, many pokes, prods and scopes. We left the NICU without oxygen or monitors, but with a feeding tube, blossoming sensory issues and a plethora of gut issues.

Over the next year and a half or two we had projectile vomiting issues. At every feeding. Andrew would writhe in pain in my arms while I fed him through his g-tube until he eventually checked out and went to sleep. When his sister was born the December after Andrew came home, I was spending 10 hours a day sitting on the couch feeding him, hoping that putting his formula in at a drip would prevent the horrible pain and vomiting. I continued to follow the traditional doctors' orders and feed Andrew formula-enriched breast milk and then straight formula. We tried every formula out there including elemental formulas that supposedly contain no allergens. Finally a new occupational therapist told me about the blenderized diet and introduced me to a Yahoo group of moms who were feeding their children REAL FOOD.

Once we started on the real food, the vomiting began to improve. And Andrew grew and felt better. You could see it in his skin color and in his eyes. But we started having new problems with mucus pooling in his stomach and causing a new kind of vomiting. Andrew had a near-constant post-nasal drip that also caused him to gag and throw up. One of the moms on the blenderized diet group told me about digestive enzymes and the gluten-free/casein-free (GFCF) diet. This was our introduction into the biomedical world and it has changed our lives. We've learned to recognize what foods Andrew can't tolerate and that increase his mucus production. We now rotate his foods and are working on trying to get him to eat with his mouth. We use dye-free, scent-free, natural detergents and cleansers, and we have a pretty good supplement routine down.

Andrew's brain bleed has attributed to his Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and global delays. He also has low muscle tone, so chewing and swallowing are difficult for him. He can swallow instinctively but cannot swallow on command. Writing, cutting and anything using fine motor skills are VERY, VERY hard for him. We're wanting to explore hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) to see if it can aid in repairing some of the damaged cells. Our new DAN doctor has a soft-sided chamber in her office and believes that it would be very beneficial to him. Andrew is truly our miracle child. We want to give him chance possible."

Special Note: Andrew's mom, Dana, has been a long-time, and very active, Lend4Health lender and supporter. Most of the children on Lend4Health have benefited from one of Dana's loans!

Make a Microloan for 6-yr old Logan T's Health!

This loan has been repaid!

First Posted On: June 21, 2010

Name: Logan T.

Age: 6 years old

Location: Illinois, USA

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $1,200

Loan Needed For: Stool test ($400); blood work (cost TBD); follow-up appointment with DAN! doctor ($300); and supplements -- Kirkman Labs Multi-Vitamin w/P5P, Serotonin, Vitamin D, Zinc, Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Magnesium Citrate, Digest, and Epsom Salts.

Repayment Terms: 15 months ($80/month)

Other Notes: Logan's mom, Mary, writes, "Logan is a sensational six year old boy. He has a smile and sense of humor that bring light to any room or person he encounters. He has incredible physical abilities including stamina and balance. However, he has very limited verbal skills. He can't tell us what happens during his day, nor can he answer yes and no questions. Most of his language is scripted from television, but is used appropriately to request needs. He has terrible stomach and GI issues. Constipation has been a plague since he was very small. He is still not completely toilet trained. We know how bright our child is. We just need to find the right way to get his brain going in the right direction. We know that the doctors and nurses at True Health are on the right path with Logan. We will not give up on Logan!

We first knew something was wrong when he was 18 months old. He began to regress. He'd learn a new word then stop using it after a few days. He had more speech at 15 months than he did at age 2. We did all the early-intervention programs and he started pre-school at age 3. At age 5 we sought a formal diagnosis and autism was confirmed. We have since followed with 2 neurologists and 2 developmental psychologists. Logan attends an autism program through the district educational coop. For the first time since he was 18 months old, we have begun to see progress. This is largely due to his diet, enzyme support, and lots of therapy from dedicated teachers. Logan has a brother, Luke. Luke is 4 and has recently also received a diagnosis of autism. Luke is not as affected as Logan and his treatment is mainly therapy and diet.

Now that both boys are diagnosed with ASD, we are constantly juggling and fighting for treatment and therapy. We are dividing resources between both boys and left with guilt when we have to choose one treatment or program for one child over treatments for the other. Any kind of loan such as this will lessen our burden and allow us to do more treatments for each of our boys.

Thank you for your time and consideration."

Special Note: Mary learned about Lend4Health from somebody at the Generation Rescue booth at the Autism One conference in Chicago in May 2010.

Make a Microloan for 5-yr old Joshua's Health!

This loan is being repaid!

First Posted On: September 20, 2010

Name: Joshua Z.

Age: 5 years old

Location: South Carolina, USA

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $450

Loan Needed For: TRIAD Profile test (blood & urine) for metabolic and nutritional needs

Repayment Terms: 12 months ($37.50/month)

Other Notes: Joshua's mom, Jackie, writes, "Joshua was diagnosed with autism at my urging. We knew something was not typical and refused to believe that he was just a 'Late Talker;' there were many other signs as well. Luckily with persistence and therapy, he is a high-functioning little guy with autism. We started Joshua on a regiment of Cod Liver Oil, chelation baths, and B12 Patches. We have seen much improvement in his abilities to focus, as well as a decrease in his anxiety!!

My husband is self employed as a contractor, and, lately, as with most people these days, we are struggling to make ends meet.

We are requesting a loan for the TRIAD test, which is from blood and urine, to get more information on Joshua's body's needs. The test covers: Vitamin and mineral sufficiency; Insufficiencies of carnitine and NAC; Oxidative stress and antioxidant sufficiency; Detoxification adequacy; Functional status of B-vitamins; Neurotransmitter metabolism; Mitochondrial energy production; Methylation sufficiency status; Lipoic acid and CoQ10 sufficiency; Specific markers of bacterial and yeast dysbiosis; Essential amino acids sufficiency; Food sensitivities; and Intestinal hyperpermeability."

Make a Microloan for 6-yr old Julian's Health!

This loan has been repaid in full!

First Posted On: August 26, 2010

Name: Julian S.

Age: 6 years old

Location: Nevada, USA

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $500

Loan Needed For: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT); 20 dives.

Repayment Terms: 9 months ($55.56/month)

Other Notes: Julian's mom, Rachel, writes, "Julian always has a smile on his face. He loves music and works hard everyday, he is my sunshine. He was "officially" diagnosed with autism at the age of 4, (although at age 2 we were told of him having autism) and since then we have been pursuing biomedical treatments. He has speech, occupational therapy weekly (during school as well) ABA therapy in home, takes vitamins/supplements daily, and is on a gluten-free,casein-free, soy free, egg & nut free diet.

This summer Julian has been working very hard for his ABA therapists who visit our home. He has made great progress in his language and has learned to write his phone number (with the area code), first and last name, and his address along with other huge milestones he's reached. It's exciting for us to see this. It's a mother's longing to see all of this in our children and celebrate it with him. He is doing great so far.

For the past 2 years we've been wanting to pursue hyperbaric oxygen therapy, but we have done the other therapies first as financially we just couldn't do. I am excited at where Julian is at this time, and HBOT, we believe, would benefit him greatly.

We are a previous Lend4Health family and know that if it hadn't have been for great lenders like you, we probably still wouldn't have been able to get a DAN Dr. and pursue biomedical treatments for Julian.

Thank you in advance for all of your support; it is much appreciated!"

Special Note: This is Julian's 2nd Lend4Health loan request. The first loan was $471 for Julian's first DAN! doctor appointment. That loan was repaid early, and this family is in good standing on Lend4Health. To read the first loan request, click HERE.

We are doing daily treatments and he even asks every morning when he gets out of bed, "Are we going in spaceship mom?" Calling it a "spaceship" has made it fun for him to want to get in, and, since day one, he has had no problem getting in it at all. He has been having spontaneous language and so far we are happy with his progress. We are about halfway thru our treatments. I'm happy to share that Thurs. 30th Sept.

Make a Microloan for 7-yr old Benny's Health!

This loan has been funded and disbursed!!

First Posted: August 7, 2009

Name: Benny

Age: 7 years old

Location: Quebec, CANADA

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $2,000

Loan Needed For: Partial payment of 40 HBOT [hyperbaric oxygen therapy] dives at Clinique Magali.

Repayment Terms: One lump sum, paid 24 months after loan is fulfilled.

Other Notes: Benny's mom, Lidia, writes, "I have worked hard to document the many gains that my son had using the HBOT before (click HERE). It has helped his recovery. I am hoping that he can complete another 40 dives.

This journey has been a difficult one and has depleted me financially but I have my son back and there is no price tag for that.

I want to be able to complete 40 more HBOT dives. I have $1,100 and need an extra $2,000. There is a chance that another organization can fund the remaining $3,000.

Thank you for such a wonderful opportunity."

Special Notes: Lidia has worked hard, in coordination with Benny's therapy team, to document the gains they have noticed over time from his past HBOT dives. This is a long, but very informative, list, so I have posted it on a separate web page as a Google document. To read more about Benny's gains from past HBOT dives, please CLICK HERE.

Check out some of Benny's artwork. Lidia says, "Remember I said the HBOT brought my son's skills back? This is his artwork. Isn't it beautiful?!"

August 18, 2010: Benny's loan has been funded! The full amount of the loan is $2,003!

August 18, 2010: Promissory note sent to Lidia for signature.

August 22, 2010: Signed promissory note received.

August 25, 2010: Loan of $2,003 (USD) disbursed directly to Clinique Magali in Quebec. This loan is scheduled to be repaid in one lump-sum by September 1, 2012.

August 25, 2010: Update from Lidia: "Benny started hyperbarics yesterday at Clinique Magali. The total cost is about $5,000. I had some saved up, plus this loan will pay for a portion of it. He will have about 40 dives. At first he didn't like it yesterday, but later when we were in the car, he was asking to go back. I have already noticed improvements. He slept really well last night, and it was the first time in about 6 months that he did not wet his bed. He also has been calmer today than usual, and he is forming some longer sentences than usual."

Make a Microloan for 7-yr old Milo's Health!

This loan has been fully funded, but it has not been disbursed because the family cannot be reached.

First Posted: August 7, 2009

Name: Milo

Age: 7 years old

Location: Oregon, USA

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $1,500

Loan Needed For: Partial payment of 40 HBOT [hyperbaric oxygen treatment] dives at California Hyperbarics.

Repayment Terms: 18 months ($83.33/month)

Other Notes: Milo's mom, Kathy, writes, "Milo is a fabulous seven year old. He loves to build, play with his friends, and is currently in a general education classroom in kindergarten. Milo has come a long way since his original diagnosis as "low functioning autism." We believe that Milo is on his way to recovery and the HBOT [hyperbaric oxygen treatment] is a major contributor to that recovery. We are requesting a loan in the amount of $1,500. We want to take Milo to California Hyberbarics for 40 HBOT dives (total cost of $4,500). This loan will help us pay for a portion of the full amount needed. Last summer Milo did 40 dives and we saw tremendous results. He gained language, social skills, and was more cognizant. Milo will benefit tremendously from more dives this year!!! He knows that HBOT helps him and has repeatedly asked to 'Go back to the chamber.' We would like to repeat the protocol this year but, being a family with limited financial resources (like many many families with children on the spectrum), we need help."

Special Notes: (1) Kathy learned about Lend4Health from Autism Free Zone. (2) Milo's doctor is Dr. John Green at The Evergreen Center.

Make a Microloan for 7-year old Dalton's Health!

This loan is being repaid!

First Posted: May 31, 2010

Name: Dalton

Age: 7 years old

Location: Georgia, USA

Diagnosis: PDD-NOS [Pervasive Developmental Disorder - Not Otherwise Specified]

Loan Sought: $2,500

Update 7/20/10: Dalton received a $2,000 grant, so the family is ending the loan request. A total of $267 in loans was collected.

Loan Needed For: Appointment with DAN! doctor, testing, and recommended supplements

Repayment Terms: 18 monthly payments ($139/month)

Note: The repayment terms have been changed to 12 monthly payments ($22.25/month) thanks to the grant!

Other Notes: Dalton's mom, Wendy, writes, "My son was diagnosed with Autism/PDD when he was 2. We immediately started therapies, homeopathic treatments and the gluten-free casein-free (GFCF) diet. It did help a lot with his eye contact and his gastro problems. He finally said his first word at 4 1/2. He is doing a lot better, but, when we stopped with the homeopathic treatments and GFCF diet, he started regressing. We couldn't afford it any longer. Now he is going back to doing some of the things we got out of him with these treatments. It breaks my heart to see him go back. I really need help to get him back to where he was. I have heard about DAN! lately and decided I wanted to try this on my son. This loan would give us the tools to find out exactly how to treat him and continue the regimen."

Special Note: Wendy learned about Lend4Health from the HollyRod Foundation website, after seeing Holly Robinson Peete on the TV show The Doctors.

Make a Microloan for 5-yr old Aydan's Health! (#2)

This loan is being repaid!

Bottom Photo: With big brother Avery.

First Posted: March 22, 2010

Name: Aydan B.

Age: 5 years old

Location: California, USA

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $905

Loan Needed For: Attendance at the AutismONE/Generation Rescue conference, "Autism Redefined," in Chicago from May 24 - May 30, 2010. (Flight: $346.00, and hotel: $559.00)

Repayment Terms: 36 monthly repayments ($25.13/month)

Other Notes: Aydan's mom, April writes, "Aydan is a 5 year old with autism. He is pre-verbal, has many sensory difficulties including constant self-stimulatory behavior and motor planning issues. He is sweet, adorable, smart and an all around love bug. He was first diagnosed at age 2 1/2 years and at the time was considered to be mild-moderate. Unfortunately his progress has had many ups and downs and he is now considered to be in the moderate-severe range. Nevertheless, we remain extremely hopeful and have seen great improvements since making changes into alternative therapies such as RDI, Miller Method and Bio-medical treatments. Aydan recently became potty trained which was a major milestone and a huge celebration for our family. We are very excited to finally be seeing some progress and look forward for it to continue. We still believe that Aydan will recover given the right opportunities.

At this time I am seeking a loan to attend the Autism One Conference. In California our funding for treatments and parent training has been cut by millions of dollars. I would like to attend Autism One to further my education and learn about cutting edge treatments that may be beneficial to my son as well as the autism community. I am very active in TACA, Generation Rescue and several other autism groups so not only would my education benefit my son but I would be able to share my information.

Aydan is beloved by many family members and friends. We all recognize this warm light of love that he holds and those of us lucky enough to share it feel truly blessed.

As for me I feel that I have been selected to be the mother of this boy for a reason and I know that I will never give up advocating for our children."

June 11, 2010: Update from April: "Hey there L4H family! I'm just giving a quick update on what we've been able to implement since my wonderful experience at Autism One. The first thing we did was start removing environmental toxins and going completely organic. After hearing David Kirby, Anju Usman and many many others I can take a hint. The other has been the implementation of Quigong Sensory Training. This was one of the highlights for me as it was a real training session that taught us how to actually do this treatment at home. It's very simple and only takes about 15 minutes a day. I've been doing it on Aydan at night and he's been calmer, sleeping better and has had fewer night accidents. I could see after the first massage when this very hyper kid lied in bed still without moving for an hour before falling asleep that QST was going to be a keeper."

Make a Microloan for 6-yr old Jaden C.'s Health!

This loan has been repaid!

First Posted: March 17, 2010

Name: Jaden C.

Age: 6 years old

Location: Florida, USA

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $2,720

Loan Needed For: 40 "dives" in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber at her doctor's office

Repayment Terms: 24 months ($113.33/month)

Other Notes: Jaden's mom Bonnie writes, "Jaden is a delightful, fun, mysterious girl who was diagnosed with severe autism at 26 months. She has made much progress with biomedical treatment in the past four years. She talks, sings, learns and loves people. She loves to have people over to our house and help me set up the table! She recently began homeschooling, and it is a joy to learn along with her. She can be taken everywhere now -- library, church, stores, field trips, rides in the car, overnight trips, which she loves! Her gut is nearly healed. Her vitamin deficiencies are almost gone. She struggles still with OCD- [obsessive compulsive disorder] type behaviors (pacing, picking lips and skin), some sensory issues and mild anxiety. HBOT [hyperbaric oxygen therapy] is one of the therapies we have been unable to do and I am praying that it will be one of the answers to Jaden's breakthrough. Thank you for considering having a part in that! God bless you today and always!"

Special Notes: Bonnie is a long-time Lend4Health lender & supporter.

Make a Microloan for 5-yr old Ish's Health!

This loan is being repaid!

First Posted: January 28, 2010

Name: Ish

Age: 5 years old

Location: California, USA

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $2,000 [Reduced from 4,200 on March 1, 2010]

Loan Needed For: Down payment on a used hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) chamber.

Repayment Terms: 24 months ($83.33/month)

Other Notes: Ish's mom, Naima, writes, "Ish is an awesome little 5 year old. He's the youngest of my 4 children. His sense of humor shines through, penetrating the walls around him called Autism. He's in constant pain and still constantly wears a beautiful smile. His brave little heart is infectious and it keeps me fighting for his health even when the well's run dry.

Since Ish's diagnosis our family has suffered tremendously. My ex husband and I separated shortly after his diagnosis, 3 years ago. Since then this road to recovery has been quite rocky. We lost our home, I lost my business, and our older children lost out on a lot too. Autism rips everyone apart one by one beginning with the host, then spreading to his loved ones. Everyone's affected.

In August we traveled to St. Petersburg, Florida. Mark Fowler, chairman of Hyperbaric Center for Children granted Ish 30 hours of Oxygen. While in treatment, Ish spoke his first words ever. Sadly after exhausting all financial resources we returned to California. My little bit of work (as a hairstylist) is our only means of income. Not being able to work for 4 weeks caught up to us.

Oxygen therapy was the most encouraging part of our journey so far. Ish began playing with unfamiliar children for the first time ever, he spent many nights in my bed, eyes to eyes trying to communicate with me. He showed empathy to a stranger's baby that was crying (wanting to sing to it and kiss it). I got a glimpse at life without Autism.

He spoke his very first sentence in his life "Go downstairs, go downstairs now." He and I spent 10 minutes afterwards just laughing with excitement. That's when I realized he is as much, if not more, frustrated about not being able to express himself.

We've maintained the DAN [Defeat Autism Now] protocol by the grace of God (seriously). We're currently on Chelation (DMPS and EDTA suppositories). Within 4 months it will be time to finish his unfinished hyperbaric treatment. This time the full prescribed hours are NEEDED. I KNOW he will recover with Oxygen Therapy. This time we just need to bring the Chamber to us.

Ish is my Hero!
ADDED MARCH 1, 2010: Ish is desperately needing his Oxygen treatment, we've stopped all chelation due to imbalances and slight regression. $2,000 will ensure the delivery of the chamber to our home. I'm soooo very thankful for all of you. You encourage me to continue fighting for my son. Your notes/messages are read over and over, each time with tears of inspiration in my eyes.

Love and Faith, Naima"

I've been battling many wars (school district, home living situation) lately and trying really hard not to interrupt the consistency of Ish's Recovery Treatment. Ish has come so far since the last time I updated you. He's completed 20hrs [of hyperbaric oxygen therapy], half way to the 1st dose of hours prescribed. He loves school and is in love with his teacher Ms. J. and new teacher's aid Ms. M. He gives them both kisses and says "bye bye see you tomorrow." 5 words!!!! Ish counts to 20, says his ABC's. He was only at 1 word, possibly 2 before HBOT. He is now trying new textures of food, he's not bothered by smells anymore. No longer covers his ears when I turn the vacuum on. He smiles and makes eye contact 100 times more!! Anxiety is down and curiosity is up! He is becoming dangerously excited about new things, people and places. He's no longer predictable (I really have to watch him at all times). He's oozing with a creative itching to explore life, with his eyes wide open spirit! I'm loving this miracle in the making! Thank you everyone for helping Ish along on his Golden Road to Recovery!"
