Make a Microloan for 2-yr old Aaron's Health!

This loan has been repaid in full!

First Posted: October 1, 2010

Name: Aaron

Age: 2 years old

Location: Michigan, USA

Diagnosis: Dyspraxia

Loan Sought: $300

Loan Needed For: Initial appointment with DAN doctor

Repayment Terms: 3 monthly payments ($100/month)

Other Notes: Aaron's mom, Laura, writes, "Aaron is our third child and the only boy. He has two older sisters (Ava 6 and Ana 4). Aaron just turned 2 years old and is the best little boy I know. We knew something was up between ages 15-18 months. At that time he had a few words he would use regularly and spontaneously and after a round of illnesses and ear infections we noticed marked regression. He became inward and aggressive and stopped playing with his favorite toys and stopped any imaginative play he knew. We began a very limited diet with him as he seems to have the same food intolerances as his sisters, and that has brought back his charming character. Recently, he has seen a pediatric neurologist to rule out seizure disorders and genetic abnormalities to give his developmental apraxia of speech a reason. So far the OAT test she ran came back grossly abnormal, and he has 3 metabolic genetic abnormalities. His "normal" doctors have no idea how to deal with this and have pretty much left us on our own. He has many of the physical ailments autistic children have (as do my daughters), but I believe we have spared them through diet and EFA supplements. For Aaron, I have my concerns because he is a boy, he is not talking (but wants to!), and he is falling off his growth curve (he has not gained any weight in one year and is down to the 5th % for weight and 15% for height). So I thought our DAN! doctor might be able to bring Aaron to a full functioning 2 year old before more symptoms get added to the dyspraxia. He is currently in speech therapy and we are hopeful it will work.

We could really benefit from this loan because my husband has been laid off from work for 2 years and just recently got hired as a local driver for a local company. He is working full time but for minimum wage. And we are trying to catch up for being without any income for 3 months. I am currently in school but this will end in September. At that time, I hope to focus on getting Aaron where he needs to be. (speech doctor appts and cooking the foods that he needs on any special diets)."

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $650 [reduced from $1000 on 1/8/10]

Loan Needed For: Supplements recommended by Noah's DAN! doctor, Stephanie Cave, at their initial appointment. Supplements include zinc, magnesium, DHA, oral MB12, nystatin, enzymes, epsom salts, Super Nu Thera, and riboflavin.

Repayment Terms: 18 months ($36.11/month).

That is why I want to know if he is truly allergic to it. I need this loan because I am a single mother with little support. It is very difficult. I just want to be able to give my child the best chance I can possibly give him in life and I need help doing that. This will greatly be appreciated more than anyone will know."

Make a Microloan for 2-yr old Alano's Health!

This loan has been repaid in full!

Photo: Alano (left) & his older brother Legend.

First Posted On: September 14, 2009

Name: Alano

Age: 2 years old

Location: New York, USA

Diagnosis: PDD-NOS

Loan Sought: $1,500

Loan Needed For: Initial appointment with DAN! Doctor ($165); one follow-up visit ($165); Organic Acid Test from Great Plains ($240); Comprehensive Stool Analysis Test from Great Plains ($330); IgE Food Allergy Test from Great Plains ($270); Travel costs (tolls) to & from DAN! doctor ($30); Supplements, including multi-vitamin, probiotics, omega 3s, enzymes for the first 2-3 months ($300).

Note: Alano's mom is looking into a different doctor as well. If she decides to see a different doctor, the amount and the details of the need may change. It is anticipated that the amount needed will be decreased. This loan request will be updated as needed once the decision is made.

Repayment Terms: 24 months ($62.50/month).

Other Notes: Alano's mom, Alida, writes: "Alano will be two years old this October. He is my little "pollo" (Spanish for chicken), full of curiosity and loves to be outdoors! He loves to run with his older brother, Legend, and play cars together. Although he was diagnosed with PDD when he was 18 months old, he's very affectionate and loves having people visit our home. I felt that all he was missing was the words he so desperately wants to say everyday but would babble and yelp a lot instead.

After his diagnosis, we started with early intervention with speech therapy, special instruction and occupational therapy in our home. It's been helping for the past three months so far but not enough. He's getting another evaluation in a few weeks, which will add more therapy to his schedule as well as an ABA. Right when therapy started, I became homebound with an ankle injury. It's been difficult but we've had a great support system and Alano will get the extra help he needs. We started the GFCF [gluten-free casein-free] diet over a month ago and it's been great but we're not there 100%. Between my doctor's appointments, shopping for GFCF products & supplements, we're getting hit hard financially.

Dr. Elaine Hardy is a nurse practitioner but she follows the DAN! protocol and she charges much less than most DAN doctors in NYC. We just want to get the ball rolling with biomedical treatment as soon as possible so the appointment is for November 3rd.

Alano has been uttering word-sounds like "achoo" and "dadoo" for balloon but otherwise, my husband and I are dying just to hear him call us Momma and Daddy. He looks forward to seeing his therapists, loves to eat, does a cluck-cluck dance (why I call him pollo!) before he gives you a nuzzley kiss. I also started a blog about his journey (read it HERE).

I believe every child with autism has a better chance at recovery once their parents are given the tools they need and the means to afford it! Of course life is not that simple but I'm willing to try through this site and God willing, this will open up your heart and be able to give whatever you can to help. It would mean the absolute world to me and to all the children here on Lend4Health! Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story and God bless!"

UPDATES - UPDATES - UPDATES

October 5, 2009: I received this awesome email from Alida: "Tori, I can't believe I'm writing this email NOW! I can't believe it actually happened and as soon as I get the money, I STILL won't believe it. I've been in touch with a friend of mine named Enzo from high school on Facebook. He saw Alano's profile posted a few weeks ago. He wasn't one of my closest friends but a very nice guy nonetheless. He felt for me when he read Alano's story and offered to help. But what he did to help out was what you would only see in the movies!! He works as a long shoreman in a large company with over 200 workers. Being a father of three, he told me how blessed he always felt to have three healthy children and that it would break his heart to hear about his friends going through hardship with sick children. He has done this before for a friend whose daughter had leukemia and had to take time off from work to be with her. His friend was deep in debt and so he collected $5-$10 from each person at his company and ended up with over $2,500! So he did the exact same thing for my son! I couldn't believe it. He collected about $1,200 in a week and a half!! Then my brother-in-law decided to chip in the remaining $300 as soon as I told him and the rest of my family the story. By the grace of God, I could not imagine this would happen to me. But you know Tori, it was your organization that prompted this to happen! You helped make everyone aware of the need for biomedical treatment for children under the spectrum, especially for those that don't know that there are ways to help them and that it's not easily covered under insurance. I did have a hard time explaining to Enzo about the website and what biomedical treatment is but he didn't care. I brought up Jenny McCarthy and he thinks it's all BS! So I hope with Alano's recovery process, he will understand better in the near future. God works things in a beautiful way. Now I'm at a loss as to how I'm going to thank him and his company for this incredible donation! Tori, THANK YOU for giving my son a chance at recovery by being such a blessed part of the autism community and for creating Lend4Health from the goodness of your heart and for your beautiful little boy!"

October 5, 2009: The total amount received in loans on Lend4Health is $60. I will talk to Alida about how she would like to structure this new loan amount.

October 5, 2009: Alida plans to use the $60 for supplements recommended by the DAN! doctor. She plans to pay the loan back over 3 months, at $20/month.

October 6, 2009: Promissory note sent to Alida for signature.

October 21, 2009: Signed promissory note received.

October 21, 2009: Loan of $60 disbursed via check in the mail. The first repayment on this loan is due November 1, 2009.

October 22, 2009: Thank you note from Alida:
The past few weeks have been one long emotional roller coaster ride. My family and I are on cloud nine over the fact that we have the funds to be able to start the biomedical treatment for Alano, a blessing that couldn't have happened if it weren't for Lend4Health! In the past few days, we had a meeting with the NYC EIP (early intervention program) in their office and just got approved for extra speech therapy time, occupational therapy and for ABA (applied behavioral analysis) which is going to be a crazy schedule for Alano starting next week. We really hope he can tolerate it! Then we went to the orientation as of last night at the Path Family Center (PFC) in Staten Island. My husband and I felt very much at home the minute we stepped into this beautiful place! After meeting Dr. Gabriel and his staff, I was overwhelmed with tears and felt inspired by their stories of how they were led to the center to help children and adults under the spectrum and other disorders. To have the services they'll provide, the laid back, cozy atmosphere of the place, the play gym for the children so they can interact and socialize with one another and the parent support group meetings, all in ONE PLACE, is an incredible opportunity to have and an investment of a lifetime for our son! Before we become members of PFC, we do have challenges to deal with, like the possibility of surgery for my ankle next month. It could keep us from joining until I recover. Regardless, we're sooo happy we found this place!! A HUGE THANK YOU to Alano's Rescue Angel (from generationrescue.org) Elizabeth Monterosso for telling me about PFC! We will update again before the holidays! Thank you for reading and God bless! THANK YOU
-------------------------
After the visit to the Path Family Center where Alano will get his treatment, it got me thinking so much about the families I saw at the meeting and how I wonder about the families I saw at the NYC EI office. I ask myself where could our family be if it weren't for the technology of the world wide web. Even more so, I ask where would we be if it weren't for an open mind to the possibility of biomedical intervention. I am taken back by the thought that I am so thankful that God has brought us here to this point in our lives, to where Alano especially needs to be. Not every child with autism is lucky. Not every parent of those children have a computer to be able to do the research AND have an open mind. Our family feels truly blessed everyday with everything we have...and don't have. Ever since I found Lend4Health online a few months ago, I bookmarked it and went back to it so many times with the hope that one day, I will be able to put my son's profile on it. Here we are and here I am saying thank you Thomas, Beth, Karen, Paula & Sara for taking the time to invest in getting Alano one step closer to recovery. Thank God for each of you and for Tori Tuncan for creating Lend4Health from her heart. We will never forget it!!!

P.S.: Please bookmark my blog @ http://madmomaboutautism.blogspot.com for updates about Alano's progress as well as a "before" video of him that was taken at the end of September which will be posted on my blog very soon. Thank you so much XOXO!!

January 11, 2010: Update from Alida: "Happy New Year everyone! It's been over two months since my last update about Alano. Based on my latest blog post at http://www.madmomaboutautism.blogspot.com, you can imagine what we all had to endure as a family. As of today, I'm recovering from foot surgery just fine. We did become members of the Path Family Center and had the second round of bloodwork done as of this morning. I posted about Alano's latest accomplishments as well as an update on his early intervention therapy. I'm so happy for my little "pollo" (chicken in Spanish lol!)! He's a tough kid with so much heart, a love for learning new things and has an insatiable need to play, play, play all day, especially with his big bro Legend! I'm looking forward to a year full of promise, hope and of course, RECOVERY!!!

From our family to yours, many blessings in 2010 & thank you again!!

Much love,
Alida (Alano's mom :-D)"

Repayment Terms: 3 months (~ $51.67/month); repayments will begin in February 2009

Other Notes: At the end of October, Faustin's mom, Maureen, wrote the following to me (at that point, Faustin had just started the gluten-free, casein-free diet): "Faustin is a beautiful, loving child. He suffers from many developmental disabilities that haven't been diagnoses as one disorder, yet, but sensory modulation, auditory processing disorder, and autism have all been mentioned as possibilities. Faustin has speech therapy (ST), physical therapy (PT), AND occupational therapy (OT) multiple times a week. He loves cheese, so it's breaking our heart to take it from him, but the [gluten-free, casein-free] diet seems to be helping. Yesterday, he shook his head "no" in response to a question. He has never done that before. He kisses on the lips now...also a new development. He's just our sweet boy and we hope to have any and all resources available to continue improving his prognosis."

Two months later (December 2008), Maureen provided this update: "Faustin had his first DAN! [Defeat Autism Now!] doctor appointment on November 21st! He's doing really well with this combo of therapy and supplements and the GFCF diet(more than two months!) and it's neat to hear new words and see increased eye contact. When I get home from work, he jumps off his chair to hug me, and tonight, when I went to play rehearsal, he cried at the window...He never seemed to realize/react to my coming and going until the past couple weeks...it's amazing."

Faustin's doctor is Dr. Elena Koles in Northbrook, Illinois. Faustin's dad has been unemployed for five months now due to the economy. He is in the TV/film industry, previously in Los Angeles where work was plentiful, and now in Chicago where it's harder to come by.

Make a Microloan for 2-yr old Alani's Health!

This loan has been repaid!

First Posted On: November 9, 2008

Name: Alani R.

Age: 2 years old

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $491 [used to be $500 but DAN! doctor is giving 5% discount for all follow-up visits for patients who go through Lend4Health].

Loan Needed For: DAN! doctor follow up visit $171 (with 5% discount from DAN! doctor), comprehensive food allergy test $229, probio gold supplement $29.50, calcium powder $12.50, vitamin C powder $16.00, Enzyme complete $20.00, and magnesium cream $18.50

Repayment Terms: 12 months (~ $40.92/month)

Other Notes: Alani's mom writes, "Alani is a beautiful little girl who at her young age is not only the center of my life but my inspiration. She is the strongest little person I know. Since we started the GFCFSF diet, Alani’s eye contact has improved significantly. She has almost stopped waking up at night and her sensory seeking behaviors have decreased. When we first met our DAN! doctor, Alani was 15 months old. She had very limited eye contact, irregular bowel movements, and was sick with a cold every two weeks in addition to all the other medical problems that go along with Autism. Currently, Alani has begun to develop some speech, her eye contact has improved, and her smile brightens up everyone’s day. It has taken us almost 6 months to complete all the blood tests since money is a huge obstacle at the moment. However, every time a blood test needs to be run, Alani knows the routine and cooperates all the way without any crying or losing her beautiful smile. We still need to test for food allergies and to follow up with our DAN! to review her lab results. We are very hopeful for Alani’s recovery since she is responding well to her treatment. So here I am today praying that we can get some assistance through Lend4Health to continue Alani’s treatment and buy her monthly supplements during these tough times. Thanks and god bless all of you who are helping our children recover." Alani's DAN! doctor is Dr. Bhakta at the Orange County Integrative Medical Center.

December 29, 2008: Update from Alani's mom, Jannett: "Hello Tori. I just wanted to provide a quick update on Alani. We completed the lab work and met with her DAN. Lab results showed severe infammation of the gut and high yeast off the charts. Her results were so high that the DAN thinks it might be Chron's disease. We are waiting for the holidays to pass so we can take her to a GI doctor. Furthermore her oxalate levels are also high so we will be starting a low oxalate diet along with her gfcfsf diet and I am thinking of removing yeast as well. I am little overwhealmed right now so I am just going to do the low oxalate diet first. Alani was given Diflucan and she will be on the antifungal for 3 months...she can only get compounded meds from now on. We see our DAN again on January and at that time we will find out what is the next step to take. Moving on to better news...Alani is talking more. She is able to request items such as milk, cookie, tree on (christmas tree lights on he,he), Crayon and paper etc. We are seeing lots of improvement and she is more alert and affectionate."

February 14, 2009: All lenders have been reimbursed their original loan amounts via PayPal.

April 16, 2009: Update: "Alani is doing well so far. She had some regression in behavior (the terrible two's kicked in he,he) but thankfully we got it somewhat under control. She started on M-b12 shots and she is now a little chatter box. We also got her yeast under control but we are still working on bringing down her gut inflammation. We have made the decision to make our household entirely GFCFSF to make it easier on everyone."

October 27, 2009: Update: "Alani is doing great. She is attending a typical preschool classroom and has made two good friends. Although she is language delayed and her articulation is not so clear nothing has stopped her from becoming a a little chatter box. We are in the process of transitioning to the District from our Regional Center so Alani has been through some evaluations to determine her current functioning level and current diagnosis. I am almost certain that she will be categorized as high functioning since she has been doing great lately. Health wise her DAN has been pleased with her progress. We also just found out that her gut inflammation is finally under control and that her yeast has not returned as we had thought. I will let you know how everything turns out after Nov 10th."

Make a Microloan for 2-yr old Jeremy's Health!

This loan has been repaid!

First Posted On: September 22, 2008

Name: Jeremy

Age: 22 months old

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $400

Loan Needed For: Organic Acid Test (OAT), yeast culture, and sensitivity test. These tests are recommended by Jeremy's naturapathic physician, Dr. Berry, who accepts their insurance. Some tests that the physician is recommending are covered by their insurance, but these are not.

Repayment Terms: 12 months, with repayments starting in December 2008. ($33.33/month)

Other Notes: Jeremy's mom, Jennifer wrote, "Jeremy is a beautiful 22 month old who has had a rough start. He was born with craniosynostosis which required extensive neuro and plastic surgery. Jeremy was diagnosed with autism a few months ago and we felt hopeless UNTIL we found out about biomedical interventions, only to find out that we can't afford the care he desperately needs. We already see a huge difference with the GFCF diet, which we started 9 weeks ago. My husband and I have been putting off paying our bills to see the DAN! Dr and we just can't put them off any longer. We consider ourselves to be hard working Americans and were shocked to find out how little financial support is available for families with autistic children. Jeremy is a fighter, and we just know that with the right biomedical interventions as well as therapy, he can be recovered."

October 1, 2008: Promissory note sent to Jeremy's mom for signature.

October 3, 2008: Note from Jeremy's mom, Jenn: "I can't thank the lenders enough. Its just amazing to know that others care enough to help my son get the care that he so desperately needs. I can't wait until we're in the position to do for another family what's been done for us."

October 10, 2008: Signed promissory note received.

October 10, 2008: Loan of $400 sent to Jeremy's parents via PayPal.

November 25, 2008: First loan repayment installment of $33.33 received. This installment was made one week early.

December 16, 2008: Second loan repayment installment of $33.33 received. This installment was made 16 days early. NOTE: This installment was made by Gail and Steven as a holiday gift to Jeremy and his family.

December 17, 2008: Note from Jenn: "I'm at a loss for words. People can be so kind. Please let Gail & Steven know how much we appreciate their gift to us. Jeremy is doing so well! We have just added a new supplement (3 days ago) and today my son gave me my first kiss!!!!! We are pulling him out of the "window", I just know it. My heart is so full of joy today and then to listen to your message about yet again the kindness of complete strangers-just topped it off!!"

January 27, 2009: Third loan repayment installment of $33.33 received. This installment was made five days early.

February 6, 2009: Update from Jenn: "On Monday Jeremy started his first anti-fungal and it has been amazing. Each poopy diaper has yeast in it and his die-off has been pretty bad. He has had increased stimming and hyperactivity along with some pain and bloating. Along with this crazy die-off has come some miraculous improvements. In fact I'm going to quote his ABA teacher from her note from yesterday's session. (By the way, Jeremy is (was) non-verbal.) "Jeremy had an AMAZING session today! I usually have to prompt any eye contact and today he made unprompted eye contact for approximately 40% of the 90 min session! He made several approximations (cow/go/circle/puzzle/goodboy) while doing a NEW puzzle. He was very active but was able to collect himself and finish a puzzle on his own. He looked the healthiest I have seen in the 8 months of knowing him."

Last Sunday we as a family were able to go to breakfast for the first time with no incident!! He sat and colored with crayons (just six weeks ago he had pica and would have eaten them, btw it was caused by a zinc deficiency.) He ate his gf/cf/sf/cf food off of a breakable plate when a month ago he would have dropped it just to watch it smash. In fact another mom came over to us and commented on what a well behaved boy we have! Later on that night we took him to a friend's house to watch the Superbowl and Jeremy sat with his dad and watched football. Just the look of pride on my husband's face was enough to make me cry! This, Tori and lenders, is what you made possible! Thank you. Last night we started B-12 injections and I'll update on that as well."

February 24, 2009: Fourth loan repayment of $33.33 received. This installment was made 5 days early.

March 25, 2009: Fifth loan repayment of $33.33 received. This installment was made one week early.

April 30, 2009: Sixth loan repayment of $33.33 received. This installment was made one day early.

June 1, 2009: Seventh loan repayment of $33.33 received. This installment was made on-time.

July 2, 2009: Eighth loan repayment of $33.33 received. This installment was made on-time.

July 31, 2009: Ninth loan repayment of $33.33 received. This installment was made early.

September 2, 2009: 10th loan repayment of $33.33 received. This installment was made on-time.

October 6, 2009: 11th loan repayment (due October 1) has been marked past-due. An email from Jennifer says, "I'm so sorry we are late this month. Somebody hacked into our bank account and although the bank will cover everything for us we had to shut down our account. I will make a payment as soon as we set up a new one. Again, I'm sorry."

November 1, 2009: 12th loan repayment (due November 1) of $33.33 received. This installment was made on-time.

November 1, 2009: NOTE: This loan is scheduled to be repaid in full today, but one repayment (due October 1, 2009) is currently past-due. The final amount due is $33.37.

November 18, 2009: The October repayment has been received. The amount was $33.37. This repayment has now been marked "late" instead of "past-due."

November 18, 2009: This loan has been repaid in full!

November 18, 2009: Original loan amounts have been sent back to all lenders via PayPal.

Loan Sought: $400 [loan reduced 9/6/08 from $800 because family is now receiving outside help for purchasing enzymes]

Loan Needed For: To pay for two months' worth of supplements as recommended by her DAN! doctor (Dr. Geeta D. Jayaram) and her natropath. Repayment Terms: One lump sum on March 31, 2009.

Other Notes: Delia's mom, Shannon, writes: "Delia is my only child. She is the sole joy of my life. My family means the world to me. Delia has had a lot of problems since she was born, but being my only child I just thought -- and was told by Doctors for a long time -- that it was normal baby/toddler behavior. Delia was never really smiley as a baby, she had severe Colic, constant ear infections, and she would not respond to noise. She was never a loving child, never wanted hugs or kisses, she never babbled like other babies. I just thought this was a natural part of her individual development. When she turned one, she started becoming really secluded and only wanted to play by herself in a corner undisturbed, never responding to her name or talking. That is when I made sure to bring a lot of attention to her Doctor about her symptoms. He sent me to see an Ear Specialist, and a Neurologist. Delia had to get tubes put in her ears from all the fluid that had built up in her ears from her constant infections. After that she started to talk a little bit, which made us so happy, but she is still a couple months behind and cannot communicate her needs. We were hoping that the ear problems were the answer, but when we saw the Neurologist she confirmed my worst fear and told me Delia had Autism. She now works with Birth to Three, which is a program of Therapists that come to our home to work with Delia’s individual Autistic challenges. They have been a great help to me and Delia; she just loves when they come over and play with her. They have also been a big help with getting us a second opinion from a Child Psychologist, but unfortunately she also diagnosed Delia with Autism. Delia has a Speech Therapist, a Developmental Therapist, a Child Psychologist, and an Occupational Therapist that works with her on her Sensory Integration Disorder. She has a lot of sensory issues that go along with her Autism. She is afraid of loud noises like noisy stores or sirens. She is afraid of elevators and public restrooms; she will throw horrible crying fits if she is presented with any of these, and it breaks my heart. I can’t take her to parades or carnivals because of the loud noises and she is afraid of the rides. She is also stated to be Sensory Seeking, which means that she craves sensory play all day long -- she can’t get enough of it. I do brushing therapy on her every two hours to give her sensory sensation, and I do some sort of sensory play with her every hour. She is on a lot of different medications/suppliments to help make her better, and they are doing such a good job. She has made so much progress in her speech, and she is finally comfortable to go up to a child like she wants to play, whereas she would never want anything to do with other kids before. She is a very smart little girl, and even her Birth to Three workers are amazed at how much the medications are helping her so fast. I am so proud of my daughter she is incredible, she is a fighter and the light of her family’s life. She is going to make a really great adult one day. She still has a good ways to go before she is all better, but she is coming along and I couldn’t be happier. The thing that plagues us is how much the medications cost each month for us. It is starting to put us into debt. It is hard to afford all of our household bills plus about $400.00 in treatments a month. I really don’t want to have to take her off of any of them for fear that she will regress. I don’t want that at all -- not after all the success I have seen. It would break my heart. I am fighting with Social Security right now because they denied her. The lawyer that took her case said it would be 15 months before we would get a court hearing and that it would be a tough case to win because they don’t like to give Social Security to kids with Autism until they get into school and they see if they need Special Education or not. Delia will be going to a special needs Pre-School when she turns three, but I don’t know if that will make a difference in her case or not. I’m not asking for all you have, we have no help and really do need some for our daughter. I am just asking you if you could just please give anything you can to help us out to help pay for some of her medications. We would appreciate it so much. We have hit so many dead ends trying to get a little help that anything is a great gift for us. I appreciate this website's help, and I appreciate anyone who decides they would like to help our little girl. Thank you."

March 27, 2009: All original loan amounts have been sent back to the lenders via PayPal.

March 27, 2009: Update and thank you from Delia's family:
We're really thankful for lend4health, it helped us A LOT when we needed the money for Delia's treatments. I'll include some pics of what we bought for her and (if I can find the prices) just how much all this stuff costs. We COULD NOT have done it without your help and lend4health! It was also nice that you've been around for us to talk to for support and you always sent us different things to check into, we really appreciate everything that you personally have done for us, Tori!

And for an update on Delia, at one point she was considered fully autistic, but now she's on the high functioning end of the spectrum. This is in big part due to the treatments we were able to buy for her, all her vitamins and everything that lend4health helped us pay for. We are also lucky enough to have a good group of therapists that are able to come work with her every week, without them we wouldn't have many of the methods and practices we use to work with her through certain aspects of autism. Overall, we feel we have a good bit of control of the situation now and can head into a good and more stable direction.

The photo of supplies I'm sending to you are in most cases supplies for a few months of treatments. Everything is somewhat expensive. We were able to give Delia supplements and necessary vitamins for about 3 or more months based on the money raised at lend4health. There's also a more recent picture of Delia.

Thank you so much! We'll be in touch with you.

Loan Needed For: Fees for First DAN! Doctor Visit (Dr. Demio) in September.

Repayment Terms: One lump sum in March 2009.

Other Notes: "Sawyrr is the youngest of four kids. The only son out of the four. I cried the day he was born. He was so beautiful. They laid him on my chest and he instantly looked up at me with his beautiful eyes. A lot has changed since that day. In a one word, "Autism." Sawyrr is now 2. Although we have managed a few more "eye contacts," Sawyrr is often times still in his own little world. We have him on the GFCF diet and started some supplements on our own. He is still completely non-verbal. The thoughts of hearing him say "I love you Mom" burn my eyes with sadness. I have faith, though, and with that faith we are taking Sawyrr and his ADHD sister to Dr. Demio in September. We are struggling like everyone else I am sure. But coming up with monies for both kids is seeming all too impossible. Until this site. Thank you all who have loaned and all of you who will loan in the future. May God Bless you!"

September 12, 2002: Note from Sawyrr's mom, Tami: "I just wanted to give everyone a Sawyrr update. We had a first DAN! appt. on Sept. 9th. We went over some labs we had run prior and WOW! He has the cholesterol of a 45 year old man. Not a very fit man mind you! He was missing some major good Flora. High levels of the bad guys. Throwing out too much zinc. High with most bad metals. White blood cell count higher than what it should be. Basically his little body is a MESS!! We must do an OAT test and a bunch more blood work. We were put on Folinic Acid and b-12 shots, nystain, enzymes, and probiotics. He had his first b-12 shot in the Dr. Office and the next day we noticed he started clicking his tongue and responding more promptly to his name. More aware. This is a child who doesn't talk at all. Doesn't point and who has been bringing us things when he wants them. This is HUGE for us!! No words yet but he has only had one injection and we are just starting out so we are very hopeful!! Thanks for all who loaned us the money for this appt. It was so worth it. Thanks again!! We will keep you updated as more things develop!!!

February 24, 2009: Update from Tami: "Hi all! Sorry it has been a long time since I posted a update.....My apologies!! Well With Sawyrr we have experienced some bumps in the road to recovery. We have had a great experience with b-12 injections. We still experience all kinds of rashes and bumps. At one point he developed hives. Boy are our kids sick!! We are currently starting neubulized Glutanthione. We will start amino acids and Enhansa soon if all goes well. Boy does this stuff add up!!!! Sawyrr still has no words but I feel in my heart we will soon!!! God is SO GOOD!! I must say even when things look bleak he finds a way to surprise me. Thank you for all the benefits that came from all of your loans!!! You are GOOD!!! Thank you and may god bless each and everyone of you!!"

Repayment Terms: Loan will be repaid in one lump sum in February 2009.

Other Notes: I know every mother must think this, but he is the sweetest child alive. Even being diagnosed, he is still so loving and affectionate. His nickame is "boogie" because when he hears music he likes, he will dance (shake his cute little booty). It sooooo cute! He often does it at dinner when we're listening to music with dinner. You look over and he's just dancin' away in his booster seat.

August 2, 2008: I heard from Jonathan's mom that they have had the blood drawn for the test, and they have sent the money to the lab. The lab will now process the blood, and they should have results back within 2 weeks. We'll keep you updated on the results, so stay tuned!

August 11, 2008: Note from Jonathan's mom: "The pediatrician called me today with the test results. WOW, he is allergic to wheat (big time), rice, corn, eggs, oats, safflower, coconut, and soybean. I'm so glad we got the test done! We hadn't eliminated eggs, safflower, or soybean oil. It also explains why he kept getting constipated on the GFCF diet. I'm so grateful we switched to SCD w/o milk products. . . . Thank you!"

December 1, 2008: Note from Jonathan's mom: "Hi Tori, sorry its taken me so long to write you back. The holidays have kept us really busy. Everything is going great. Jonathan has started Pinnacle Academy, which is a really great school for kids with disabilities, they have really great main-streaming rate. Also we have our first DAN doctor appointment on the third of this month. We decided to phone visit for our first visit since we cannot afford the trip to Miami but we plan on making the actual trip some time in March. We got an awesome grant to cover a lot of bio-med expenses. We're so excited to start his treatment with Dr. Levinson! All in all we're doing great!"

December 4, 2008: Note from Kitty: "The consult went pretty well. We're starting quite a few new supplements, which I'm excited to get going. We're also doing alot of testing. He [Dr. Levinson] was very nice but direct and showed respect to "restricted" finances, lol. The director at Pinnacle Academy specifically recommended him vs another closer DAN doc."
