Name: Jonah

Age: 4 years old

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $2,500

Loan Needed For: To see Dr. Krigsman (a GI specialist) at Thoughtful House in Austin, Texas. The loan will be used for travel, a pill camera GI exam, evaluation, medications, and approximate fees for one year.

Repayment Terms: Loan repayment will begin in 5 years (2013) and will finish in no more than 10 years (2018). [Note from Lend4Health: Lenders for Jonah should understand the special risks involved with making this loan.]

Other Notes: "Jonah has had success with past treatments (DAN, diet, supplements, homeopathy)," his mom said. "But now I need to determine why all these interventions have not helped his chronic diarrhea and rashes. I do not have money to pursue this treatment that I started to pursue for Jonah. I also have a 3-year old daughter."

UPDATE - UPDATE - UPDATE
October 15, 2008: In close communication with Jonah's mom, Cynthia, we have decided to put Jonah's loan "on hold." Cynthia is unable to pursue any new biomedical interventions for Jonah at the moment. When she gets to a more predictable stage of her journey, I will work with her to figure out a new loan amount and repayment schedule based on Jonah's needs and Cynthia's situation at that time. I will be contacting all the lenders so far to give them an option of (1) getting their loan back now or (2) keeping their loan "on the books" for a future loan to Jonah. Thank you for your understanding.

December 20, 2009: Cynthia has requested that her loan request be removed permanently due to her current life circumstances. She appreciates deeply the generosity of her lenders and has requested that they roll over their loans to another Lend4Health family. All lenders have been notified via email and have been asked to respond with information on how they would like to proceed (withdraw their funds or roll over to another child). Jonah's lenders have a deadline of December 31, 2009, to respond to this request. If no response is received, the lender's loan will be rolled over to another Lend4Health family, and this loan request will be closed on January 1, 2010.

I just want to wish Jonah and his mother the very best. I hope that the issues that are putting this on hold will resolve themselves soon.

Best wishes,
