Make a Microloan for 6-yr old Noah's Health!

This loan is currently past-due.

First Posted On: September 9, 2009

Name: Noah

Age: 6 years old

Location: Kentucky, USA

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $1,300

Loan Needed For: Travel costs (hotel, food, rental car) for the family to go to Thoughtful House for treatment by Dr. Krigsman. They will be there October 11-14, 2009.

Repayment Terms: 24 months ($54.17/month)

Other Notes: Noah's mom, Rachel, writes, "Noah is a very sweet, loving 6 year old boy with autism. He was diagnosed at 2 1/2. Thanks to a GFCF [gluten-free/casein-free] diet, he has made amazing strides, but his gut issues are ongoing.

Recently he has started getting a LOT worse and has been waking up SCREAMING with pain in his stomach. He has always complained with stomach pain, but not this bad. He is staring to push away food because he says it hurts when he eats. He was finally starting to have semi-formed stools, and now he hardly goes, and when he does it is diarrhea. I am at my wits end as to what to do. I have taken him to the pediatrician, and he himself stated that he will not get any help here (we tried gastro docs, and they were NO help) and that he needs a specialist. I am really afraid that if we don't do something soon, he is going to get very ill, and it could have a serious, possibly life threatening, impact on his health.

This is an REALLY urgent situation! Noah is in terrible pain a LOT of the time now. This photo (above) was taken several months ago, before he started to deteriorate. The past few weeks he has gotten MUCH worse, and it has gotten so bad that half the time now I will hear his tummy growling at the table and he will look SO hungry, but he will just push his plate away and get up from the table. He often wakes up screaming at night in pain, and he actually begs to see a doctor. It is so awful to see him suffer like that and not be able to help him. I am really afraid of what is going to happen if he does not receive treatment soon. No child should ever have to suffer like that.

I can't tell you how heart breaking it is to hear my son beg to go to a doctor, and not to be able to help him. I have tried everything to get him the funds he needs, and I just have nowhere else to turn. We haven't had a decent nights sleeps in WEEKS. I just want to get my little boy out of pain. Can you PLEASE help us? He is really suffering right now, and I know this treatment will help him."

Special Note: A local charity is paying $2,700 for Noah's appointment at Thoughtful House.

September 28, 2009: Noah's loan has been funded!

September 28, 2009: Promissory note has been sent to Rachel for signature.

September 28, 2009: Thank you note from Rachel: "I just wanted to say thank you to everyone out there who stepped up to help Noah. As many of you know, finding out your child has autism, is an event that changes not only your life, but your entire family's life forever. For many, it seems hopeless. At this point in time, insurance companies are still allowed to openly discriminate against our children, and refuse to pay for treatment, despite the fact that they have been proven safe and effective. So many children like Noah are out there suffering in silence, and their parents feel helpless to do anything about it. That is where Lend4Health and people like you come in. Because of your generosity, Noah will now be able to get the treatment he so desperately needs. He doesn't know it yet, but this is going to change his life! Our trip to Thoughtful House is coming up very soon, and I will keep everyone posted and let you know how he is doing. Again, thank you SO much!"

September 29, 2009: Loan of $1,300 disbursed via cashiers check in Priority Mail. This loan is scheduled to be repaid over 24 months. The first repayment is due December 1, 2009.

October 15, 2009: Update from Rachel: "I just wanted to give everyone an update on Noah. We had his procedures done on Tuesday. Dr. Krigsman stated Noah has a "text book" case of autistic entercolitis, along with positive markers for celiac disease, and as mentioned before, antibodies for Chron's disease. It was so bad that Dr. Krigsman said that he did not even have to wait for the results of the pill cam and biopsies. He has already called in medication for Noah, and we have an appointment to discuss the rest of the test results then. The GOOD news it that he CAN be helped! I will try to get some pictures to you as soon as possible, I am not good with computers LOL! A BIG thank you to everyone who stepped up to help Noah! We could not have done it without you!"

October 17, 2009: Photos from Rachel of their Thoughtful House trip

Noah in the waiting room

Another one in the waiting room.

"This is the pill cam that Noah had to wear for 8 hours! He did really well with it though."

November 13, 2009: Update from Rachel: "I talked with Dr. Krigsman last Friday, and he says that Noah's biopsies are normal, but that the pill cam clearly shows he has disease of the small bowel. We are trying to get his meds in him, but it looks like we will have to work with a therapist to get him to learn to swallow pills and capsules. One pill absolutely CANNOT be crushed, one we are in the process of getting a pre-authorization from the insurance, and Dr. Krigsman is having me order a raspberry flavored syrup for him to take his prednisone with. His belly pain is manageable right now, but he is starting to flare up again, so I am hoping that we get his syrup really soon! I know once he starts getting his meds in him, he will start to feel a LOT better. Sorry there is nothing really good to report, but I am sure the next update will be much better!"

December 1, 2009: The 1st repayment installment has been received. The amount was $54.17 and it was received on-time.

December 14, 2009: Update from Rachel: "Just wanted to give everyone an update on Noah. Dr. Krigsman has prescribed Zantac in place of the Prilosec for now. Noah REALLY hates the taste - it even smells bad, but is actually cooperating and taking it! He has learned that if he takes it on spoon and swallows fast and takes a drink, it is not so bad! He has also made the connection that when he takes his medicine he feels better! Still not able to take the Entocort capsules or Prednisone syrup yet, but I have a therapist working with him on the capsule/pill issue, and I am hoping once I receive the Kirkman's flavored syrup and mix it with the Prednisone that he will be more receptive.

I am seeing big improvements though! He has not had to use an ice pack on his stomach in a month! That is a record for him. That poor child has being using ice packs on his stomach ever since that awful MMR [measels/mumps/rubella] shot. For the first time in almost 6 years, he is not in constant pain! I am also getting more appropriate responses. The other day I was in the living room and I called for him. He answered me back by saying, "Yes, mommy, what do you want?" Noah does usually respond when I call him (after several times) but this was on the first try, and it was very appropriate! I could have fallen off my chair!

He had to go in for a sick visit with our pediatrician's office (the one that is kicking us out for not vaccinating, this was our last visit) and his mouth was hanging open when he saw the difference in Noah! It was actually kind of funny. I did get some satisfaction showing them his post op report. I am sure they will come up with some rationalization for it not being the vaccine, but at least I got the opportunity to make them aware of it!"

December 31, 2009: The 2nd installment (due Jan. 1) has been received. The amount was $54.17, and it was received early.

February 1, 2010: The 3rd installment (due Feb. 1) has been received. The amount was $54.17, and it was received on-time.

March 2, 2010: The 4th installment (due Mar. 1) has been received. The amount was $54.18, and it was received on-time. Note: This is an overpayment of $0.01, which will be applied toward the final installment.

April 1, 2010: The 5th installment (due Apr. 1) has been received. The amount was $54.17, and it was received on-time.

June 4, 2010: The 6th installment (due May 1) has been marked past-due.

June 4, 2010: The 7th installment (due June 1) has been marked past-due.

July 27, 2010: The 8th installment (due July 1) has been marked past-due.

July 27, 2010: A partial payment of the 9th installment (due August 1) has been received. The amount received was $30. The amount remaining due for this installment is $24.17.

October 5, 2010: The 9th installment (due August 1) has been marked past-due. The balance due on this installment is $24.17.

October 5, 2010: The 10th installment (due September 1) has been marked past-due.

October 5, 2010: The 11th installment (due October 1) has been marked past-due.

October 5, 2010: Update from Rachel: "I am so sorry it has been so long since I have gotten in touch with you about my loan. I know it is not an excuse but we have had several crises going on, and things have just been a mess to put it mildly. It will be November before I can start paying on it, but I wanted to at least let you know what is going on. I will not ever be able to thank you and the wonderful people who helped Noah enough."

October 6, 2010: [**] Recovering Nicholas has forgiven her loan for Noah. This brings the 9th installment (due August 1) up-to-date and has now been marked "early" as opposed to "past-due." This means that "Recovering Nicholas" will not receive their loan back, once the full amount has been repaid.

Make a Microloan for 6-yr old Irene's Health!

This loan has been repaid in full!

First Posted On: August 5, 2009

Name: Irene

Age: 6 years old

Location: Florida, USA

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $300

Loan Needed For: Follow-up phone consultation on September 3, 2009, with Irene's DAN! [Defeat Autism Now!] doctor, Dr. David Berger

Repayment Terms: One lump sum, 12 months after loan fulfilled

Other Notes: Irene's mom, Ivonne, writes, "Irene is an amazing girl who was diagnosed with autism at the age of four. After contacting other families of autistic children and listening to their testimony, we implemented the Gluten Free Casein Free (GFCF) diet for our daughter with great success. Three months after the diagnosis, I had the first visit with Dr. Berger, a DAN Doctor. From that moment on, my daughter’s condition has been improving. Irene, who was non-verbal at the age of five, is now able to communicate through simple sentences. She is also learning to read. That is something.

Like many other children on the spectrum, Irene has metal toxicity, chronic yeast infection, allergies, and metabolic and hormonal imbalance.

This is Irene’s treatment: Super NuThera with P5P, Cod Liver Oil, Kirkman Calcium, Pro bio gold, MB-12 q3d, Folinic acid, Taurine, Selenium, Vitamin D3, Epsom salt baths and Ketoconazole. We just finished the last chelation cycle using DMSA and Glutathione.

I am an immigrant who works full-time as an elementary teacher and I do not have any family members who can help with the cost of Irene’s medical treatment. I have exhausted all my resources and I do not know where else to go to get the money necessary to pay for the treatment that has been working so well for my daughter. We need to discuss with the Doctor how Irene has responded clinically to the chelation, discuss the results of the tests that he ordered during our last consultation in March, and figure out what treatments will be more effective for my child. Thank you for your consideration."

August 27, 2009: Promissory note sent to Ivonne for signature.

August 27, 2009: Signed promissory note received from Ivonne.

August 28, 2009: Loan of $300 sent to Ivonne via PayPal. This loan is scheduled to be repaid in one lump sum on September 1, 2010.

August 28, 2009: Thank you note from Ivonne: "Dear lenders, We wanted to let you all know how much we appreciated what you have done for us. Helping our daughter recover from autism is a long and difficult journey. Knowing we have the support of people like you surely helps. You are truly making a difference in our daughter's life. Thank you on behalf of Irene, gracias from the bottom of our hearts.

Sincerely,
Ivonne and Ramón
Irene's Parents

September 4, 2009: Update from Ivonne: "We had the consultation with Dr. Berger. Things look better. The lead level came out OK. We are going to make another chelation cycle with DMSA, in case there is more lead "hiding" in her body. Irene is beginning to take a compounded medicine (I do not remember the name) to regulate the adrenal function. The minerals and vitamins are where we want them to be for the first time, so we will stick to our current regime. We are going to forget about yeast for now (we tried everything already, what a nightmare) since Irene is clinically improving. In three months we will repeat the tests and talk to him. Thank you again for helping us. Ivonne"

October 19, 2009: Update from Ivonne: "Irene is doing better, particularly in school. We had one of those killing viruses but it is over now. Ramon, Irene's father, is back from Spain. He got connected with several galleries [he is an artist]. Saludos, Ivonne"

August 27, 2010: Lump-sum repayment of $300 received, early (due September 1, 2010). This loan has been repaid in full!

August 27, 2010: Update from Ivonne: "Thank God Irene is doing VERY WELL. I cannot tell you how happy we are. She is talking "Spanglish" and improving her social skills. Her imagination and sense of humor are amazing (her therapist says she could be a comedian). She enjoys inventing stories and illustrating them (I never thought an autistic kid could do that). Her universe has expanded to the extent that she is projecting into her "future." (When she grows up, she wants to be a teacher and "take me" to Egypt and China).

As other parents of autistic kids, we keep working to help our child rise above the challenges imposed by her condition. The biomedical treatment plays an important part in that. Making possible that appointment last September was a big opportunity for us. Thank you again and good luck in your important mission."

Make a Microloan for Brothers Salamander & Potatey's Health!

This loan has been repaid in full!

First Posted: August 8, 2009

Name: Salamander & Potatey

Age: 11 years old (Salamander); 6 years old (Potatey)

Location: Massachusetts, USA

Diagnosis: Asperger's, Non Verbal Learning Disorder (NLD), ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), anxiety, bipolar tendencies, Celiac Disease, multiple food allergies, meta/mito dysfunction (Salamander). Celiac, multiple food allergies, meta dysfunction, "near miss" (Potatey).

Loan Sought: $550

Loan Needed For: Updated Metabolic Analysis Profile (MAP), through Dr. Amy Yasko, for each boy. Each MAP costs $275.

Repayment Terms: 11 months ($50/month), starting 6 months from date of loan disbursement

Other Notes: Salamander & Potatey's mom, Petra, writes, "My two guys are incredible. They have already overcome so many challenges and difficulties. Salamander is absolutely amazing and he's so so so very brave. He was diagnosed just shy of his 6th birthday with Asperger's Syndrome, Non Verbal Learning Disorder and Sensory Processing Disorder. Salamander's *secondary* diagnoses are ADHD, anxiety disorder, and bipolar tendencies. And then of course there is the usual stew of medical issues: Celiac's Disease, multiple food intolerances, immune system dysfunction, gut dysbiosys, meta/mito dysfunction, etc. I started biomedical treatments with Salamander when he was about 6.5 years old, moving over to Dr. Amy Yasko's protocol when he was about 8.5 years old. He's 11.5 years old now and doing phenomenal (quite a bit of his journey can be found on my blog) - he has progressed from an ATEC score of 101 to an ATEC of 8 (!!).

Potatey, Salamander's younger brother, is completely neurotypical, but with a lot of the same health problems as his big brother. I really think that the reason Potatey remained neurotypical is that I started biomedical treatments with him when he was about 11 months old (plus he was dairy free pretty much from infancy due to a severe dairy allergy). Potatey too has greatly benefited from Dr. Yasko's protocol.

I love the Lend4Health concept, I adore Tori and the entire community that she has been able to pull together. Every single loan request that has gone up has tugged at my heart strings and if I were independently wealthy, I would have funded every loan request. I never thought I would find myself on the 'requesting end'. A job loss and a series of difficult personal circumstances, however, have left me in quite a pickle.

I will need to make changes to the boys' current supplement protocols (to try to taper down where I can to save on expenses), but I need updated test results for the boys to be able to make those decisions. I have been able to scrape together enough money for an updated UTEE for Salamander, I have asked family for help in paying for an updated UTEE for Potatey. And I am turning to you all for help to pay for updated MAPs. Thank you so much in advance. My boys and I will be ever so grateful."

September 17, 2009: Update from Petra: "I got Salamander's MAP [metabolic analysis profile] results back. (This test was paid for by the loan thru the Lend4Health gang.) Overall things are looking good. Neurotransmitter metabolites much more balanced. Cellular energy and Mitochondrial metabolites are looking much better too. All the B12 I'm pumpin' into this kid is starting to do its thing. Not so good news? Malabsorption and dysbiosis markers are really out of whack again. I had to *back off* from my gut bug program a bit this summer due to Salamander's constipation issues. I need to redo a comprehensive stool analysis to see what's growing. But I am very, very happy about the improvements in neurotransmitter metabolites and the cellular energy/mitochondrial metabolites."

Make a Microloan for 6-yr old Ashleigh's Health!

This loan is past-due.

First Posted On: July 22, 2009

Name: Ashleigh

Age: 6 years old

Location: Texas, USA

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $430

Loan Needed For: Stool test ($290), DAN! doctor appointment ($60), and travel/gas to get to DAN! doctor appointment ($80)

Repayment Terms: 18 months ($23.89/month)

Other Notes: Ashleigh's mom, Monica, writes, "Ashleigh is 6 years old. She is very happy when her tummy doesn't hurt. She loves bubbles, bouncing balls, cartoons, and trampolines. When she was born she screamed and cried and this continued throughout her life. She had acid reflux when she was a baby. She developed normally and she even said a few words until she was around 14 months old. She would give us kisses say i love you, thank you, please, and daddy. One night Ashleigh started slamming her head into the wooden slab underneath the padding on her playpen. She stopped sleeping, lost eye contact, began stimming on tags and pens, became non-verbal, no longer wanted affection, and was gone.

I found with biomedical treatment and diet that she is slowly but surely recovering. I started pursuing treatment for Ashleigh last year because she regressed more so than ever before. She quit eating and drinking. Her belly was hugely distended and she screamed and put holes in her bedroom wall with her head. She even looked drugged part of the time. I took her to one doctor after another but none of them helped and all blamed her symptoms on her autism diagnosis. Frustrated and petrified because I was watching my baby starve to death, I turned to biomedical treatment. This has been the only treatment that has helped my daughter. Doctors never helped her. She once went without a bowel movement for 18 days and the doctors acted as if I was making that up. Biomedical treatment has helped my daughter tremendously. She is battling yeast overgrowth. Ashleigh's father got laid off from his job 2 months ago. We no longer have the money for treatment. She is slowly regressing without her medicine and supplements." We have been following the DAN! protocol with Sawyrr since April 2008 when we started him on the GF/CF [gluten-free, casein-free] diet. We have seen some great improvements, but lately Sawyrr has been regressing a bit. He still has not started talking and he has been having more and more episodes of screaming, crying, hitting, and biting. There are times he really hurts me and he is only 3 years old.

He also has been running away a lot lately. A couple of weeks ago we went to a festival (it was for special kids and adults this particular day). Sawyrr ran off and was lost. The police, staff, and us were desperately looking for him. Talk about a parent's worst fear! A police officer found him about to jump into the bay. He has run into busy parking lots and streets. We are desperate parents looking for any way to help our son.

The following is a letter from our DAN! Dr. Demio explaining why HBOT could really help our son. He wrote it to help us try to get a grant. I applied to 4 different organizations for grants for the HBOT rental but have not received funding, so I realized I should have also posted this on Lend4Health. This is one last final attempt to get funding, or in this case a loan. It is with a hopeful heart that within one month of HBOT we will be able to tell if this is indeed the start to a much brighter future for our son. Not one filled with dread and fear.........I ask will you help our son??"

Letter from Sawyrr's doctor, Phillip DeMio, MD:

[Sawyrr] is a patient of my practice. I am treating him for nutritional and metabolic deficiencies, GI issues, viral encephalopathy, and an impaired immune system function. I have numerous lab reports to support his medical issues. I have been treating him with a number of dietary supplements and medications daily on an ongoing basis. This patient’s conditions require intense intervention and the treatments that have been administered thus far have been beneficial yet they have not yet created the full results. This patient should now receive the addition of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). This type of intervention will help treat the above conditions as well as be expected to enhance the protocol that is already in place to address his medical concerns. We use HBOT at our medical practice on a frequent basis because it is an effective therapy.

HBOT does many positive things at the same time that address many of the issues listed above as well as the benefits listed below:

* Improves antioxidant status through upregulation of antioxidant enzymes
* Decreases inflammation
* Helps heal “leaky gut” and improves dysbiosis
* Strengthens the immune system
* Enhances the body’s natural detoxification mechanisms
* Improves oxygenation and blood flow to the brain and GI tract

For this patient, I have recommended the rental of an HBOT in order to do a series of sessions during the 2009 Year:

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy: 1.28 ATM, PRN Supplemental O2 adjusted per tolerance, up to one hour, Up to 40 sessions, no more than 2 per day, at least 4 hours apart

Due to this patient’s condition, additional sessions may be recommended depending on his/her response to hyperbaric oxygen therapy and if it is proving to be beneficial in his treatment protocol.

The cost the rental of a Vitaeris 320 Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Unit and the Sequal 10-Liter Oxygen Concentrator Unit is $2,249 for the period of one month.

I am available for any questions or verification regarding this patient’s medical necessity or treatments he is receiving.

Sincerely,
P. DeMio, MD

Special Note: This will be the 2nd Lend4Health loan for Sawyrr. His first loan was funded in August 2008 and was for his first DAN! appointment with Dr. Demio. That loan was paid off on time, and the family is in good standing on Lend4Health so is eligible for a 2nd loan.

We have completed 52 1/2 hours of the mHBOT as of today. We have seen mostly great results. Sawyrr wants so bad to communicate and is getting closer to doing so. He has picked up so many new skills since we have implemented the mHBOT sessions and the transdermal EDTA. I believe both have had a great impact on him. Sawyrr is so much more aware of his surroundings and is playing with toys appropriately (well most of the time LOL). He has come such a long way since we first started on our medical journey. Even though we aren't where we want to be, we are at a great place. Our son always will be the light of our lives no matter what end of the spectrum! Make a Microloan for 9-yr old McKinley's Health!

This loan has been forgiven in full.

First Posted On: June 24, 2009

Name: McKinley

Age: 9 years old

Location: Michigan, USA

Diagnosis: Asperger Syndrome

Loan Sought: $480

Loan Needed For: Initial visit with DAN! [Defeat Autism Now!] doctor($280) and first tests recommended by doctor ($200)

Repayment Terms: 9 months ($53.33/month).

Other Notes: McKinley's mom, Kira, writes: "McKinley is a lively young man who is nine years old and loves to take things apart. He enjoys trains, cars, and anything that involves transportation. While he may lack somewhat in gross/fine motor skills and social savvy, he more than makes up for it with his 136 IQ. He was the first third grader in the district to get a perfect score on his Michigan Math MEAP.

McKinley will introduce himself as having "AS" and sometime, "ADHD." In fact, McK was diagnosed at age four with having ADHD comorbid with Asperger's Syndrome. He has been on numerous medications, tried various therapies, and is still receiving a bevvy of services to accommodate him and make life more manageable.

Our family is ready to move forward, and to begin biomedical treatments in an effort to not just live with the effects of Autism, but to push forward to finding or working towards a cure. We feel that the biomedical approach has shown some clinical validity and we need your help to have our first visit and initial testing paid for, as it is not at all covered under insurance.

Please open your heart and be generous, even five dollars towards this loan could be the difference in cracking the puzzle of McKinley's Autism.

You have our sincerest thanks."

Make a Microloan for 6-yr old Austin's Health!

This loan is past-due.

First Posted On: June 29, 2009

Name: Austin

Age: 6 years old

Location: Montana, USA

Diagnosis: Autism & Sensory Processing Disorder

Loan Sought: $1,298

Loan Needed For: Glutathione ($809, will last six months); Colostrum ($239, will last six months); and Nordic Naturals Cod Liver Oil orange flavor ($250, will last one year).

Repayment Terms: 18 months ($72.11/month)

Other Notes: Austin's mom, Lacey, writes, "Austin regularly rides horses and chases squirrels. He is a fun loving boy who loves nature and animals. He appears most at peace when he is outdoors exploring nature and camping and hiking with us. He has amazing rhythm and loves playing the drums while his grandfather plays the guitar. He has a smile that can melt the hardest of hearts and loves with such intensity and grace that it humbles me as a parent everyday of my life.

Austin was diagnosed with moderate Autism (ASD) & Sensory Processing Disorder in 4/07. Since his diagnosis our family has pursued many treatments for him including the Body Ecology Diet, hippotherapy (riding horses in a therapeutic setting), music therapy play groups, sequential homeopathy, enzymes, cod liver oil, probiotics, speech therapy, occupational therapy, SCERTS, and play therapy. We have found Austin responds best to relationship oriented therapy approaches and natural supplements. We believe we have found a balance between helping Austin heal internally and dealing with yeast, parasites, toxins and other "gut issues," and by helping Austin externally with socialization, speech therapy, etc.

Austin has made tremendous improvements in the last two years and we want to keep that trend going. We are requesting this loan because we wish to continue the supplements that help him on a daily basis. Money is tight at the moment because we are living on one income as I am homeschooling Austin. However, I am in the process of starting our own home business with iLearningGlobal so I am confident we will be able to pay back the loan in the allotted time frame. Thank you very much for your help and consideration!"

Make a Microloan for 4-yr old Lucas' Health!

This loan is past-due.

First Posted On: June 19, 2009

Name: Lucas

Age: 4 years old

Location: Nevada, USA

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $1,068

Loan Needed For: $500.00 for Initial appointment with DAN! doctor (Geoffrey P. Radoff, M.D., M.D.H); $323.00 for organic acid (urine) test; and $245.00 for stool test.

Repayment Terms: 18 months ($59.33/month).

Other Notes: This loan was requested by Lucas' grandma, Sharie, because Lucas' mom, Amber, doesn't have a computer. Sharie writes, "Lucas is the little man of the house. He is the first male to be born in our family in 47 years. He has 3 sisters; 2 older and 1 younger. He was diagnosed with autism a year ago and he is our Pride and Joy. We have recently found out that his Dr was wrong about him not being able to ever recover, and we are excited to get him to a DAN! [Defeat Autism Now!] Dr that offers hope. We are trying to start him on a GFCF [gluten-free casein-free] diet since we have been finding out wonderful things about children with autism who are on this diet. He loves to go to Grandpa's and throw anything he can get his hands on into the horse’s water troughs. Grandpa gives him his own water bucket to throw things in but we are constantly removing items from the horse’s water troughs anyway. Lucas’s Grandpa loves to take him to lots of sporting events and can't wait for the day he can watch his grandson play sports. Lucas's Mother works very hard to support all four of her children and gets alot of help from her oldest daughter Leann who is 12 years old and is amazing with her precious little brother. I am Lucas’s grandma and want to give him the best chance for recovery I can. I came across this website a few days after finding out from my daughter she got a hold of a DAN Dr but she couldn’t make an appointment because of how much money it cost. It breaks my heart to think he can’t get the help he needs now because of our lack of money. I have tried to sell my beloved horses for quite a few months; unfortunately at this time that is nearly impossible. Not to mention how much all four of our grandkids enjoy ridding them around the yard. I have prayed for some help with getting enough money to get this beautiful angel of ours on the right track and I believe this wonderful website is the answer to my prayers. I want to offer our eternal thanks to all of you kind and unselfish souls, who take the time to read these and make it possible for these very special children to have a batter chance at recovery. Sincerely, Lucas’s Mommy, Grandma, and one of the few words he says, "Poppa"

Special Note: Because this family lives in a small town in Nevada, Sharie plans to tell the local newspaper about Lucas being on Lend4Health. She is hopeful that the town can rally around Lucas and chip in the loans he needs.

Make a Microloan for 4-yr old Dylan's Health!

This loan has been repaid in full!

First Posted On: June 24, 2009

Name: Dylan

Age: 4 years old

Location: California, USA

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $1,500

Loan Needed For: Partial payment of 40 HBOT [hyperbaric oxygen treatment] dives, as recommended by Dylan's DAN! [Defeat Autism Now!] doctor, Rochelle Neally.

Repayment Terms: 18 months ($83.33/month).

Other Notes: Dylan's mom, Rossy, writes: "My son Dylan was diagnosed with autism when he was two and half years old. Now he turned 4 on June 21, and we noticed that he has not had much improvement with speech and behavior. We have seen him cry everyday trying to communicate; it just makes my heart tear apart. He is getting older, and he understands more about his condition that he really wants to talk but he just can not. As a mom, I will do the best I can to help him. We heard about the biomedical treatment from the mom of a friend of his, and I also read from the Jenny McCarthy book that this treatment is worth a try. I always have hope in my heart that he will be recovered someday.

Since medical insurance won't cover this biomedical treatment, we have to pay by cash. The problem is financial; my husband doesn't get paid much, and every month we are living pay check to pay check. I am a stay-at-home mom.

I just want my son to get help. He is just a beautiful boy, he deserves to live better and healthy. I am very thankful for everything and anyone who can help him. Lend4Health gives me hope. This website is about the passion that we have to help these children, they deserve the best in this life too."

Special Note: Each HBOT dive costs $100 if paid one at a time. For 40 dives (recommended by his doctor), that would be a total of $4,000. However, if Dylan's family pre-pays the amount, there is a deep discount bringing the amount down to $2,000. Hoping that a lower loan amount would get funded more easily on Lend4Health, Rossy is trying to get $1,500 of the amount on Lend4Health and will figure out another way to get the additional $500.

July 17, 2009: This loan has been fully funded!!

July 17, 2009: Promissory note sent to Rossy for signature.

July 22, 2009: Thank you note from Rossy: "I would like to say thank you to everybody for a favor that has been given to me for the loan that will be used as a payment for HBOT therapy for my son Dylan. This is all happening because of the greatness and the blessing of God. Special thanks to Ms. Rachel, who has been very kind and helped me by telling friends about Dylan's link. A million thanks to Mr. David, this could not have happened without your big help. I will never forget all your help on behalf on my son Dylan. You all truly make this world such a wonderful place, May God bless you all for all the kindness. Lots of thanks, Rossy and Dylan." [Rossy also sent a new picture of Dylan, below]

July 24, 2009: Signed promissory note received from Rossy.

July 24, 2009: Loan of $1,630 disbursed to Rossy via check in the mail.

August 2, 2009: Update from Rossy: "Dylan has started his HBOT already."

August 12, 2009: Update from Rossy: "Hi everyone I want to share some information about the progress that Dylan has made after he has done three weeks of HBOT therapy, which is four times a week. The first time was the most difficult time for him, he cried for about 30 minutes inside the chamber, but after that everything went smoothly and he just really likes to go inside the chamber. He has shown some improvement with his speech. New words started to come out :) and he's willing to communicate too a bit with us (before it was none). He can request for the food he wants and more surprising is that he can notify me when he wants to use the bathroom. He came to me and with his soft voice he said "potty, potty" then he ran to the bathroom. He likes to practice two new words since he was potty trained two weeks ago which are "mom pi-pi" and "mom pu-pu." This means a lot for me because finally he understands that he can use words to communicate with us, which was very difficult for him before. Of course the gluten - casein free diet and supplements also have some contribution. I want to thank all of you for the support that you all have given to Dylan. I will provide further information on his progress. May God Bless you all always."

September 8, 2009: 1st repayment of $81.50 received, early.

September 30, 2009: Update from Rossy: "Hi everyone. Dylan finished his forty dives of HBOT therapy last week. He has some progress, but not the huge one :) My concern is still about his speech thing. He is able to imitate the words from us very nicely, however his communication is still poor. So his DAN (Defeat Autism Now) Dr has advised me to do the Organic Acid Test (urine) and the Heavy Metal Urine Test for Dylan. When the results come it will show what type of supplements he needs most now, like B12 injections for speech. I would like to say thank you for your generous loan. Your kindness and support will not be forgotten and will be repaid promptly. May God Bless you always. Sincerely, Rossy"

April 6, 2010: 8th repayment of $82.00 received, early. (Note, this was an overpayment of $0.50, so the final installment will be decreased by $0.50.)

May 3, 2010: Update from Rossy: "Actually I am kind of loosening his diet a little bit; however it has increased his speech. The only problem is he is more active than usual. Anyway we are OK with that because now he can say 'I Love Mommyyyyy..!!!' He is going to kindergarten this year."

Make a Microloan for 4-yr old Olivia's Health!

This loan has been repaid in full!

First Posted On: July 10, 2009

Name: Olivia

Age: 4 years old

Location: Florida, USA

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $2,000

Loan Needed For: Down payment on an HBOT [hyperbaric oxygen therapy] chamber for their home. Because of the amount of time it takes to keep up with the HBOT treatment and the other treatments she is involved in, the family believes that a chamber at their home makes better sense than going to their DAN! doctor's office for treatments. The family has found a unit for $8,000 and would like to use the $2,000 loan as a down payment, and then finance the rest through Healing Dives.

Repayment Terms: 24 months ($83.33/month)

Other Notes: Olivia's mom, Angie, wrote: "As a parent we want the best for our children. We want to give them every opportunity to succeed and make a positive impact on the world. When we received the devastating news that Olivia was officially diagnosed with Autism our world came crashing down. But out of the rubble of our shattered dreams for her, came a new desire and will to make her whole again and give her a voice. We gained a new strength and fight. We have seen her make incredible gains and come so far. She is slowly becoming the person she was meant to be. We know that we will get there.

We want the best for her.

We insist on getting our child back and will stop at nothing until this is accomplished. Unfortunately this journey to recovery comes with a heavy price tag. We have liquidated all of our accounts and gone into extreme debt, and yet we are still on this road.

We want the best for her. We can not give up. We are now asking for your help. We would like for Olivia to be able to receive Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. It is very costly but even more beneficial and necessary on her road to recovery. We are looking to raise enough money to pay for a down payment on an HBOT chamber for Olivia. We are asking that you contribute whatever you can, to help Olivia. This is only a loan and will be repaid. Thank you for all of your help and support on this journey. With your help we will get the best for her."
