June 29, 2009: Update from April:

Hi Tori and Lend4Health family,

A lot of changes both good and bad since we first took our loan with Lend4Health.

What was a difficult financial situation has turned into a crisis. My account is still overdrawn there's no work or money coming in and it's been a stressful situation on us all.

My husband has been transferred and we are now in the process of relocating which means new school, new regional center, etc. I'm excited about the new school but change is always a bit scary.

As for my kiddo, when we first started using DAN [Defeat Autism Now] protocol he was experiencing a great deal of stress. He was aggressive, self injurous, and he appeared to be regressing. We've made quite a few changes in his program, both in regards to his therapy and his bio-medical intervention. As a result we've seen improvement. After a heavy dose of yeast treatments (that we are still doing) he stopped banging his head, stopped biting, and language has begun coming back. In addition to the bio-medical changes we have switched from an ABA [applied behavior analysis] to a RDI [relationship development intervention] program at home, and at school they hired a consultant to help deal with his aggression. All of these have contributed to the changes as well. I am convinced, however, that the head banging was a result of something internal related to yeast which we are now attacking heavily. He also seems more aware, open, and is initiating play with us like we've never seen before. He's sleeping in his own bed, potty training, and swallowing pills on his own. As of the last few days we've taken a supplement hiatus due to a bout of diarrhea but will continue slowly once the stomach problems begin to subside.

Overall he's just a delight these days, and I feel so fortunate that your generous loans enabled us to buy his yeast treatments (among other supplements) that have all contributed to this new change.

I hope everyone else is doing well and we will keep you posted.

Thanks again for your support,
April
