Make a Microloan for Brothers Ethan & Alex's Health!

This loan has been repaid in full!

First Posted On: August 13, 2008

Name: Ethan and Alex

Age: 5 years old (Ethan) and 4 years old (Alex)

Diagnosis: Autism & Autism

Loan Sought: $1,250

Loan Needed For: Genetic testing from Dr. Yasko.

Repayment Terms: 18 months (~ $69.44/month)

Other Notes: Ethan & Alex's mom, Angie, wrote the following: "We are requesting a loan to help our family. We have 3 beautiful children, Ethan (just turned 5 in July), Alex (just turned 4 in June), and Megan (just turned 2 in July). You read it right, Ethan and Alex are a mere 10.5 months apart! Both Ethan and Alex are on the Autism Spectrum, and since this past October (2007) have benefitted greatly with Dietary Changes and simple Bio-medical treatments. We started the GFCF diet in October, and also went right ahead and eliminated soy, and also the things they 'tested' positive on their 'allergy' tests: peanuts, eggs, and mustard. So we are now GFCFSFEFPF and Mustard free! LOL! We also, as much as humanly possible, eliminate artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, anything 'chemical' and are as Organic as we possibly can. The diet alone, as many of you know, is pretty expensive to keep up with, let alone the cost of DAN! Doctors and Treatments! We have seen a local DAN! Doctor, also a 'family' doctor, however he is limited because he is part of a practice, and can't do very much other than Diet support, and simple blood work, which, luckily is covered by our insurance. Per his advice, and from my own 'Google' degree (like many of us 'warrior' parents), we need to get some more testing done so that we can tailor diet and supplements/treatments to each boys own genetic and biochemical make-ups, to put our eggs into the RIGHT basket, so that we aren't spending our hard-earned and 'sparse' money on things that one needs and the other doesnt, ya know? So, we are asking for a loan so we can fund "Comprehensive Methylation Panel with Methylation Pathway Analysis" for each boy, as shown by clicking HERE. This includes, not only the testing, but Dr. Yasko's suggestions for treatment, individualized for each boy. Each test is $625.00 per boy, our total loan request is for $1250.00. The diet/lifestyle treatments, along with simple supplements that we have been doing, have made such great improvements to the boys, and even the rest of us, more than I could have even imagined. Both boys used to be on prescription allergy medications, and Ethan, was also on 2 different Asthma meds, along with 3x daily Nebulizer treatments for 'prevention'....now, drum roll please, NO MEDICATIONS, other than some very few and far between doses of Zantac (if we eat spicy foods), where they 'used' to take it daily. I feel its a LIFETIME ago since they were 'so sick'...I can't even IMAGINE what it is going to do for them to have a more direct path to their treatment, after these tests.....they still have a long way to go, Alex is still non-verbal but is SO 'wanting' to talk, he is trying so hard...and Ethan, he is much better with his sensory needs, but still has a long way to go with fine/gross motor control, as well as impulse control...We are ready for this marathon...whatever it takes....Thanks for reading, and thanks for any loan you are willing to help with, for us, and any other family here. I promise, as we are able, we will be paying it forward and help out other families as we can. I plan on having this loan paid back within 18 Months, sooner, if we have a larger than anticipated tax refund. Our current income is from my Husband's Retail Management job (stockroom coordinator) and a small SSI payment for the boys. Please feel free to ask any questions, I am more than happy to answer anything I can. THANKS! Angie and Andy, Parents to Ethan, Alex, and Megan"

February 11, 2009: The fourth repayment installment (due February 10) is past-due.

February 11, 2009: Update from Angie: "Hi! I am going to send another money order out to you, via priority again, to cover january/february, and some extra (quite a bit extra actually), I would love to have paid it off, but our one and only van died the beginning of january (it was a beauty too darn it, 1996 though), so we still haven't found one to buy yet, if we still have tax money after that we will send more! The boys, well, let's just sum it up to January was a month of immune system trial for sure, they actually had a pretty bad case of 5ths disease (slapped cheek virus), that put them both out of school for almost 2 full miserable weeks, so this week is full of the stress of like starting the school year over again! Makes me want to go back to Homeschooling, as reality is showing that Alex for example, regressed this fall to the level of the end of the spring last year and has not gained anything back in going to school, it stinks because over the summer, with the very minimal speech therapy provided from the school system (a total of 8 hours for the ENTIRE summer!)...he really progressed and connected with his Speech Therapist...however she wasn't at his school, alex ended up with the same ST from last school year...however, the gains alex made in summer, vocalizing letters, wanting to talk, making efforts to talk, well now have gone away, back to the same dull grunts and noises he had when seeing the school year ST...argh! Anyway we are working hard at that, trying to get their diets on track again, when so sick they didn't get much nutrition since they restricted foods, but we are getting there! Awaiting the testing results!"

March 12, 2009: The fifth repayment installment (due March 10) is past-due.

March 12, 2009: An anonymous individual has paid the third (January) installment ($69.44) for this loan. The third (January) payment is now considered "late" instead of "past-due."

March 12, 2009: An anonymous individual has paid the fourth (February) installment ($69.44) for this loan. The fourth (February) payment is now considered "late" instead of "past-due."

March 12, 2009: An anonymous individual has paid the fifth (March) installment ($69.44) for this loan. The fifth (March) payment is now considered "late" instead of "past-due."

March 13, 2009: Note from Angie:
Oh my gosh! What a TRUE ANGEL!!!!

Please tell this Angel that the help is probably the best thing that has happened to us! Ever since the original loan! The TWO fabtastic and best things that we have been Blessed with in a looong time! This lifts a HUGE concern for us! I have been praying everyday, and worrying every minute trying to figure out how to catch up! *whew*!!!!

Please send a BIG HUG and a BIG KISS to this Angel! Also, let that Angel know that I will Pay it Forward, once I finish paying the loan off, I will then pay the amount that was paid for us (3 months) towards other loans for families that need some help....so we will not let the generosity go un-used ('un-used' isn't the right word, but I am just so shocked and humbled I can't think of what the 'right' word is..LOL!)...

Thanks again!

Angie

This past week, we went 'off' of the GFCF diet for the most part till the 25th, so we can really start from scratch with the supplements..and boy have we noticed a difference off of the diet...just after like 3 days life became MISERABLE for all of us, all or our tummys are terrible...so we are back to about 80% GFCF, will be 100% on the 25th...yikes, HOW did we LIVE before the GFCF?"

October 28, 2009: The 12th installment (due October 15) has been received. The amount was $70, which is an overpayment of $0.56, so the final payment will be reduced by $0.56. This installment was received 13 days late.

Make a Microloan for 10-yr old Ezekiel's Health!

This loan has been repaid in full!

First Posted On: September 27, 2008

Name: Ezekiel

Age: 10 years old

Diagnosis: Autism, epilepsy, unspecified brain lesion

Loan Sought: $328

Loan Needed For: Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance premium. (read notes below for more information)

Repayment Terms: 6 months (~ $54.66/month)

Other Notes: Ezekiel's mom, Rebekah, writes: "My son has autism, a brain lesion, seizures, and severe and multiple allergies. He has been on antivirals for 3 years and the gluten-free/casein-free (GFCF) diet for 5 years. He has also been on vitamins and supplements for 3 years. He regresses immediately if we miss 1 day of the antivirals. Last November (2007), Ezekiel's lab work showed an inherited low immunoglobulin -- a weakened immune system. He does have autism, but he is near recovery when the infections (viruses and candidas) are controlled. He was treated by Dr. Stewart in Austin, Texas, for 3 years, but now we are seeing Dr. Rao (a Defeat Autism Now! [DAN!] doctor 5 hours away in Dallas) because he is an immunologist and is perfect for our son's needs. Dr. Rao's nurse, seeing Ezekiel's lab work, said he is a good candidate for intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIG) treatments. We've been on hold with treatment, though, because Dr. Rao stopped accepting Medicaid. So we are trying to gather the $328 premium to get him started on Blue Cross Blue Shield, which Dr. Rao does accept. The IVIG treatment costs $2,000 for just one IV treatment; he could need one per week for a while. The Blue Cross Blue Shield Texas Insurance Pool will pay 100% of Dr. Rao's fees and the treatments. My son qualifies for this insurance because of the epilepsy. If I can mail the $328 premium in, Ezekiel could be covered in 1-2 weeks. We don't have the $328 because we are trying to keep him on his vitamins/supplements and special diet. Also, my husband is driving the mail on contract, and he is not getting reimbursed for gas at this time. I just feel an urgency to get this insurance. I already have a nurse saying he needs this treatment, and a letter from a doctor qualifiying him for Blue Cross Blue Shield. This $328 premium could get him started on treatments in just weeks after the funds are raised; and it has been a lot of research and waiting since we got that lab work last November. My son has been 60 pounds for 3 years ... even with all the vitamins/supplements. I know that the IV-IG treatments can heal my son, and possibly save him as he is just not thriving. Ezekiel is an awesome little 10 year old."

Note: This family also needs help paying for the gas for the 5-hour trip to Dr. Rao's (about $150). Rebekah and I decided not to include that amount in this Lend4Health request in the hopes of getting the loan fulfilled more quickly. But if anybody reading this has any access to gas coupons or free gas cards, please contact Tori by clicking HERE and writing "Gas Money for Ezekiel" in the subject line.

Loans Received as of 11:20am Wednesday, October 1, 2008

Heather (Brock's mom): $10
Ethan, Alex, and Megan: $5

Amount Loaned: $328
Amount Still Needed to Receive Loan: $0!!!

UPDATES - UPDATES - UPDATES

October 1, 2008: Promissory note sent to Ezekiel's mom for signature.

October 18, 2008: Signed promissory note received.

October 18, 2008: Loan of $328 sent to Ezekiel's mom via PayPal.

November 5, 2008: Ezekiel's mom reports that she has mailed in all the paperwork to Blue Cross Blue Shield and is just waiting to hear back now. "I am very excited!" she said.

November 8, 2008: Ezekiel's mom notes that her first repayment will be late this month. She is planning to make their first repayment on Nov. 21st. (note: I will update site statistics for on-time vs. late payments once this repayment is made.)

January 2, 2009: I spoke with Ezekiel's mom today. She explained that they have had a very rough past three months with illnesses and car accidents, and they have been unable to make the past three monthly repayment installments. She is planning to get caught up with the payments within a week or two. I have asked her lenders if they would be willing to extend her schedule from a 6-month repayment schedule to a 12-month schedule. This will cut her monthly payments in half. I have given the lenders one week from today to register any concerns with this. If no concerns are heard, we will change Ezekiel's loan repayment schedule to a 12-month schedule.

January 2, 2009: One of Ezekiel's lenders, Jan, would like to donate her loan to help Ezekiel's family be able to pay back the loan. Jan's loan was $115. Two months of Ezekiel's repayments are $109.34. So what I will do is delete the first two months' payments. I will reduce the amount loaned and disbursed in the statistics by $110. When the loan is fully repaid, Jan will receive $5 back instead of $115

January 24: 2009: Just a note that the 1st (January) repayment is considered past-due.

February 3, 2009: The 2nd (February) repayment is considered past-due.

March 5, 2009: The 3rd (March) repayment is considered past-due.

March 5, 2009: Because this loan is past due and no repayments have been made, I contacted Ezekiel's mom with an offer for a new repayment structure. The original loan amount she received was $328, but in January, one of their lenders (Jan) donated $110 of her loan. That brought the loan amount due down to $218. Although the original repayment terms were for 6 months, I offered to extend them to 12 months, which would bring the monthly amount due down to $18.16. I made this offer because I had not heard any negative feedback from the lenders on previous emails regarding this issue, and because it seems that a restructured, albeit extended repayment plan would be better than a defaulted loan. I told her I considered it "starting over" from scratch.

March 6, 2009: Ezekiel's mom, Rebekah, replied, "Yes, I'm sorry. I have been trying so hard to get the IvIg thing going for Ezekiel. The Dr. said yes, but the insurance is a big headache. We just found out he dropped from 50% on growth/height to 25% in 2 1/2 years. We knew he was not growing, but now we're seeing the allergist for all the food allergies, and a GI Dr and nutritionist; and gathering 10 years of medical records. I am just overwhelmed and exhausted. I will try to get a paypal to you over the weekend. Thank you for patience, and starting over."

April 9, 2009: The 4th (April) installment is considered past-due.

May 1, 2009: Rebekah sent an email saying that their financial situation has improved and she is going to mail the past-due amount via check.

May 4, 2009: The 5th (May) installment is considered past-due.

May 20, 2009: Repayment for $90 received. This covers the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th (January, February, March, April, and May) installments! The repayments on this loan are now caught up! :) Yay! :)

June 4, 2009: The 6th (June) installment is considered past-due.

June 24, 2009: The 6th (June) installment has been made. It is now considered "late" instead of "past-due."

June 24, 2009: The 7th (July 1st) installment was received, 1 week early! :)

July 19, 2009: The 8th (August 1st) installment was received, 13 days early!

September 1, 2009: The 9th (September 1st) installment was received, on time.

September 18, 2009: The 10th (October 1st) installment was received, early.

October 25, 2009: The 11th (November 1st) installment was received, early.

October 25, 2009: Update from Rebekah: "We're doing ok. Ezekiel's seizures have been controlled now, but he has GI symptoms still. The Houston enzymes are working well."

October 27, 2009: More on the update: "We never started IVIG because the lab work for IgG with subclasses and the immune function dysregulation came back normal (regulated) in the months waiting for the insurance. We are still very concerned about chronic Epstein Barr virus [for Ezekiel], we still don't have control of these titers after 4 yrs on antivirals. I also have chronic EBV. I am looking into all possible treatments for this, as the side effects of long term EBV are severe. Rebekah"

January 11, 2010: The 12th (December 1st) installment has been marked past-due. There is $19.02 remaining due on this loan.

March 5, 2010: A fellow Lend4Health mom, Angie, has made the final payment on this loan as a gift for Ezekiel's family, and to "pay forward" the generosity of others who had helped her repay her own loan.

March 5, 2010: This loan has now been repaid in full!

March 6, 2010: Original loan amounts have been repaid to the lenders via PayPal.

Make a Microloan for 2-yr old Jeremy's Health!

This loan has been repaid!

First Posted On: September 22, 2008

Name: Jeremy

Age: 22 months old

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $400

Loan Needed For: Organic Acid Test (OAT), yeast culture, and sensitivity test. These tests are recommended by Jeremy's naturapathic physician, Dr. Berry, who accepts their insurance. Some tests that the physician is recommending are covered by their insurance, but these are not.

Repayment Terms: 12 months, with repayments starting in December 2008. ($33.33/month)

Other Notes: Jeremy's mom, Jennifer wrote, "Jeremy is a beautiful 22 month old who has had a rough start. He was born with craniosynostosis which required extensive neuro and plastic surgery. Jeremy was diagnosed with autism a few months ago and we felt hopeless UNTIL we found out about biomedical interventions, only to find out that we can't afford the care he desperately needs. We already see a huge difference with the GFCF diet, which we started 9 weeks ago. My husband and I have been putting off paying our bills to see the DAN! Dr and we just can't put them off any longer. We consider ourselves to be hard working Americans and were shocked to find out how little financial support is available for families with autistic children. Jeremy is a fighter, and we just know that with the right biomedical interventions as well as therapy, he can be recovered."

February 6, 2009: Update from Jenn: "On Monday Jeremy started his first anti-fungal and it has been amazing. Each poopy diaper has yeast in it and his die-off has been pretty bad. He has had increased stimming and hyperactivity along with some pain and bloating. Along with this crazy die-off has come some miraculous improvements. In fact I'm going to quote his ABA teacher from her note from yesterday's session. (By the way, Jeremy is (was) non-verbal.) "Jeremy had an AMAZING session today! I usually have to prompt any eye contact and today he made unprompted eye contact for approximately 40% of the 90 min session! He made several approximations (cow/go/circle/puzzle/goodboy) while doing a NEW puzzle. He was very active but was able to collect himself and finish a puzzle on his own. He looked the healthiest I have seen in the 8 months of knowing him."

Last Sunday we as a family were able to go to breakfast for the first time with no incident!! He sat and colored with crayons (just six weeks ago he had pica and would have eaten them, btw it was caused by a zinc deficiency.) He ate his gf/cf/sf/cf food off of a breakable plate when a month ago he would have dropped it just to watch it smash. In fact another mom came over to us and commented on what a well behaved boy we have! Later on that night we took him to a friend's house to watch the Superbowl and Jeremy sat with his dad and watched football. Just the look of pride on my husband's face was enough to make me cry! This, Tori and lenders, is what you made possible! Thank you. Last night we started B-12 injections and I'll update on that as well."

February 24, 2009: Fourth loan repayment of $33.33 received. This installment was made 5 days early.

March 25, 2009: Fifth loan repayment of $33.33 received. This installment was made one week early.

September 2, 2009: 10th loan repayment of $33.33 received. This installment was made on-time.

October 6, 2009: 11th loan repayment (due October 1) has been marked past-due. An email from Jennifer says, "I'm so sorry we are late this month. Somebody hacked into our bank account and although the bank will cover everything for us we had to shut down our account. I will make a payment as soon as we set up a new one. Again, I'm sorry."

November 1, 2009: 12th loan repayment (due November 1) of $33.33 received. This installment was made on-time.

November 1, 2009: NOTE: This loan is scheduled to be repaid in full today, but one repayment (due October 1, 2009) is currently past-due. The final amount due is $33.37.

Make a Microloan for 6-yr old Brock's Health!

This loan has been fully repaid!

First posted: July 30, 2008

Name: Brock

Age: 6 years old

Diagnosis: Autism

Loan Sought: $2,200 (amount has been reduced since original post; HBOT provider is giving them a deal!) [Amount has been reduced again (on 9/5/08) because local Elks Club gave a grant of $1,500!!!

Loan Needed For: 2-month rental of an HBOT chamber for daily use in the home

Repayment Terms: One lump sum in March 2009

Other Notes: "Brock is amazing," says his mom, Heather, "but we have stalled and need to get back into the Hyperbaric chamber to keep his bacteria load in check. He is really regressing lately, and we are so sad to see him suffer. He spoke his first words when we used a hyperbaric chamber in Florida in 2006 with [DAN!] Dr. Jeff Bradstreet. We need an angel right about now."

It costs $15,000 to buy a soft-sided HBOT for use in the home. Brock's family has a firm financial plan in place to be able to purchase the chamber in early 2009. However, "we don't want to lose precious time," Heather says. So she has found a provider an hour and a half away, Greg Harris (www.bodyspecific.com), who will rent the HBOT chamber to them for use in their home for 2 months. Renting this way will enable them to dive every day without needing to drive the 3-hour round trip to Greg's place (with another child in tow). They will average approximately 50 dives/month then take a break (as is recommended when doing daily dives). Greg will allow them to apply the rental costs toward their purchase, so the money will not be "gone" after the rental period ends. The family also plans to offer their HBOT to well-known friends with ASD children, so there will be more than one child benefitting from this loan.

Note: Heather has requested that the loan paid directly to the HBOT provider so that lenders will feel more at ease.

September 15, 2008: Signed promissory note received.

September 15, 2008: Loan of $1,074 disbursed via PayPal.

November 24, 2008: Update from Brock's mom, Heather: "Hey there Tori!! Funny you should email me today. We have having a real low point with Brock right now. A lot of bacteria and yeast again, which are normally controlled & helped by the [HBOT] chamber, but he's also had a really bad cold, so we can't get in like we want to as the pressure is unbearable. I tried with my cold thinking I could tough it out and WOWZA--that hurts like....some really bad word I guess!! LOL! The bacteria needs antibiotics, which increases/causes yeast, which causes crazy giggle and laugh mania (not even remotely in a cute way either!) at 3:00 in the morning till say about 6:00!! Really a whole lot of fun!! We then get to add Diflucan which helps kill the yeast, but the die off of the yeast produces the foulest behavior and poops! So it is just....indescribable at the moment. I try to feel lucky that this isn't our normal life, as it is just the norm for many. My hat goes off to those families, it's heartbreaking! So-life is sucking right now for him, and truthfully for us as well. . . . The Diflucan usually kills the yeast within a day or two, but die-off lasts a bit longer. We definitely will be keeping it real with family this year as we host Turkey day--how ironic. Welcome to our world family! LOL! It's actually a bit humorous as I just finished reading Jenny McCarthy's "Louder than Words" and her description of Evan is spot on for Brock the past few days!! Well--at least I think it's humorous, I am a bit warped liked that! My best (which is not much right now!) LOL -- Heather." Heather also wanted to note that, instead of renting an HBOT as was stated in the original loan request, they were able to purchase a chamber from another family at their DAN! practice. The money from Lend4Health, a donation from their local Elks program, and additional donations from friends and family made it possible. They also have a local family who will be using their chamber, avoiding a long drive and $$$ as Brock's family is not charging them to use their. "It really ended up a win win situation for us to be able to do this and pass on our good fortune," said Heather.

March 27, 2009: Lump-sum repayment of $1,074 received on-time. This loan has been fully repaid. This family is considered to be in good standing on Lend4Health and, therefore, is eligible to request another loan on Lend4Health if they so choose.

Repayment Terms: One lump sum on March 31, 2009.

Other Notes: Delia's mom, Shannon, writes: "Delia is my only child. She is the sole joy of my life. My family means the world to me. Delia has had a lot of problems since she was born, but being my only child I just thought -- and was told by Doctors for a long time -- that it was normal baby/toddler behavior. Delia was never really smiley as a baby, she had severe Colic, constant ear infections, and she would not respond to noise. She was never a loving child, never wanted hugs or kisses, she never babbled like other babies. I just thought this was a natural part of her individual development. When she turned one, she started becoming really secluded and only wanted to play by herself in a corner undisturbed, never responding to her name or talking. That is when I made sure to bring a lot of attention to her Doctor about her symptoms. He sent me to see an Ear Specialist, and a Neurologist. Delia had to get tubes put in her ears from all the fluid that had built up in her ears from her constant infections. After that she started to talk a little bit, which made us so happy, but she is still a couple months behind and cannot communicate her needs. We were hoping that the ear problems were the answer, but when we saw the Neurologist she confirmed my worst fear and told me Delia had Autism. She now works with Birth to Three, which is a program of Therapists that come to our home to work with Delia’s individual Autistic challenges. They have been a great help to me and Delia; she just loves when they come over and play with her. They have also been a big help with getting us a second opinion from a Child Psychologist, but unfortunately she also diagnosed Delia with Autism. Delia has a Speech Therapist, a Developmental Therapist, a Child Psychologist, and an Occupational Therapist that works with her on her Sensory Integration Disorder. She has a lot of sensory issues that go along with her Autism. She is afraid of loud noises like noisy stores or sirens. She is afraid of elevators and public restrooms; she will throw horrible crying fits if she is presented with any of these, and it breaks my heart. I can’t take her to parades or carnivals because of the loud noises and she is afraid of the rides. She is also stated to be Sensory Seeking, which means that she craves sensory play all day long -- she can’t get enough of it. I do brushing therapy on her every two hours to give her sensory sensation, and I do some sort of sensory play with her every hour. She is on a lot of different medications/suppliments to help make her better, and they are doing such a good job. She has made so much progress in her speech, and she is finally comfortable to go up to a child like she wants to play, whereas she would never want anything to do with other kids before. She is a very smart little girl, and even her Birth to Three workers are amazed at how much the medications are helping her so fast. I am so proud of my daughter she is incredible, she is a fighter and the light of her family’s life. She is going to make a really great adult one day. She still has a good ways to go before she is all better, but she is coming along and I couldn’t be happier. The thing that plagues us is how much the medications cost each month for us. It is starting to put us into debt. It is hard to afford all of our household bills plus about $400.00 in treatments a month. I really don’t want to have to take her off of any of them for fear that she will regress. I don’t want that at all -- not after all the success I have seen. It would break my heart. I am fighting with Social Security right now because they denied her. The lawyer that took her case said it would be 15 months before we would get a court hearing and that it would be a tough case to win because they don’t like to give Social Security to kids with Autism until they get into school and they see if they need Special Education or not. Delia will be going to a special needs Pre-School when she turns three, but I don’t know if that will make a difference in her case or not. I’m not asking for all you have, we have no help and really do need some for our daughter. I am just asking you if you could just please give anything you can to help us out to help pay for some of her medications. We would appreciate it so much. We have hit so many dead ends trying to get a little help that anything is a great gift for us. I appreciate this website's help, and I appreciate anyone who decides they would like to help our little girl. Thank you."

March 27, 2009: All original loan amounts have been sent back to the lenders via PayPal.

March 27, 2009: Update and thank you from Delia's family:
We're really thankful for lend4health, it helped us A LOT when we needed the money for Delia's treatments. I'll include some pics of what we bought for her and (if I can find the prices) just how much all this stuff costs. We COULD NOT have done it without your help and lend4health! It was also nice that you've been around for us to talk to for support and you always sent us different things to check into, we really appreciate everything that you personally have done for us, Tori!

And for an update on Delia, at one point she was considered fully autistic, but now she's on the high functioning end of the spectrum. This is in big part due to the treatments we were able to buy for her, all her vitamins and everything that lend4health helped us pay for. We are also lucky enough to have a good group of therapists that are able to come work with her every week, without them we wouldn't have many of the methods and practices we use to work with her through certain aspects of autism. Overall, we feel we have a good bit of control of the situation now and can head into a good and more stable direction.

The photo of supplies I'm sending to you are in most cases supplies for a few months of treatments. Everything is somewhat expensive. We were able to give Delia supplements and necessary vitamins for about 3 or more months based on the money raised at lend4health. There's also a more recent picture of Delia.

Thank you so much! We'll be in touch with you.

Loan Sought: $500

Loan Needed For: $340 for lab work with Great Plains already done. The rest ($160) is for a Porphyrin test (metals) and shipping.

Repayment Terms: 18 months (~ $27.78/month)

Other Notes: "Justin is a wonderful, smart little boy," says his mom, Karen. "He was non-verbal at 2 1/2, started using words after speech therapy but was still very delayed. He was not diagnosed with autism until he was 4 1/2, and we started treating biomedically at age 5. We have seen tremendous results from just the GFCF [gluten-free, casein-free] diet. We have also seen a difference with supplementation. We are now wanting to test for metals. We have also tested for underlying strep, but the lab will not release the results due to an unpaid balance. I have total faith that Justin can recover! We just need a little help. Thank you!" Justin's DAN! doctors are Dr. Kanelos and Dr. Hines. Karen's friend (and fellow "biomed mom"), Leslie, also tells me that Karen has been doing great work helping parents of children with autism with the Autism Society of America-North Carolina (ASNC), Union County chapter.

Also, his B-12 was high, so we are looking at some different glutathione, maybe nasal methyl B-12. His porphyrins were within normal range, not sure if I'm buying that, so I guess we'll revisit that later. We did IgG testing and found out he has more sensitivities than we thought, so we have eliminated the offenders and are now using TriEnza. We've had to switch brands/types of supplements due to some of his supplements have things in them he is sensitive to. We are still fighting yeast, seems to be the endless battle, we have decided to use biotin and GSE, as we up the doses, yeast seems to be getting more in control. Make a Microloan for 9-yr old Arthur's Health!

This loan has been paid back in full.

First Posted On: August 17, 2008

Name: Arthur

Age: 9 years old

Diagnosis: Autism/ADHD

Loan Sought: $419

Loan Needed For: Lab work recommended by Arthur's DAN! [Defeat Autism Now!] doctor, Dr. Jeffrey Wulfman, that the family's insurance won't cover, as well as a six-month supply of HLC Mindlinx probiotics that were recommended to them. The stool test is $139.00, the urine test is $120.00, and the probiotics are $160.00.

Repayment Terms: 18 months (~ $23.28/month)

Other Notes: Arthur's mom, Jenn, wrote the following: "Arthur is an amazing kid who has been casein-free for the last month and a half. We've seen such great improvements in him! He's no longer only having 1 BM a week; now it's 1 a day - YAY!!! He's also no longer wetting the bed, and he has shown HUGE gains in eye contact that even the staff at summer school noticed (not knowing he had started the diet). He has two little brothers who drive him nuts, but he's great with them. We are partners in my family's organic dairy farm (Vermont), and the boys all love the animals, but most of all Arthur loves them. If Medicaid doesn't cover something, we usually can't afford to pay it all at once like the lab companies want. We aren't looking for a handout, we just want some help to help our son. I'm desperate to make him feel good!"

August 20, 2008: Promissory note sent to Arthur's mom, Jenn, for signature.

August 21, 2008: Jenn writes of Arthur's DAN! doctor appointment: "We had a great visit with the doctor, he said in his opion Arthur is much more settled and has much better eye contact as well as having an easier time carrying a conversation [since going casein-free]. So that was huge, but he got the results of the blood antibody test and since he was off the charts in both casein and gluten, going GF is our next big step. And after the tests are done we'll see about the yeast issues and heavy metals!"

August 21, 2008: Signed promissory note received from Jenn.

August 21, 2008: Loan for $419 sent to Arthur's mom, Jenn, via PayPal.

August 25, 2008: Note from Jenn: "Well I ordered the Mindlinx [probiotics] this morning and Arthur's urine test is off to France for the heavy metal test. The stool sample will have to wait a day or two since he goes for a colonoscopy tomorrow and is on meds to help him clean out, not sure if it would effect test or not, don't want to take the chance!"

September 10, 2008: First repayment of $23.28 made (early!)

September 11, 2008: Note from Jenn: "We just got the results of Arthur's urine test today and it came back positive for mild to moderate mercury poisoning, still waiting to hear from the stool test. Then the Doctor's plan is to address yeast issues if they show up but only after we wean him from his risperadal, then we'll dicuss detox solutions! Since going GFCF we've already been able to wean him from one prescription med, now I'm looking forward to getting all that stuff away, maybe by this time next year he won't need his ADHD medicine!"

October 13, 2008: Second repayment of $23.28 made (early!)

November 7, 2008: Third repayment of $23.28 made (early!)

December 4, 2008: Note from Jenn: "OK we finally got Arthur's stool test results back, and they show he has a parasite, as well as a type of yeast (not candida). And his bacterial levels are all over the place. So after talking to Dr. Wulfman today, we're going to treat the parasite, then the yeast, and then look towards detox.

January 12, 2009:
Fifth repayment of $23.28 made (early!)

January 30, 2009: Update from Jenn: "Arthur continues to do amazing, we just took 4th place in his Special Olympics bowling tournament, our team of 4 -- Arthur and I, my friend Jess and her son Sky (Arthur's best friend, also with autism). Arthur and Sky were the youngest in the division!"

August 2, 2009: Note from Jenn: "I wanted to share with you all the news that I am officially a college student now, I'm all enrolled and registered for classes that start in Sept. for Early Childhood Education. I'm really excited but nervous too, it's been 14 years since I got done with high school. I will be going full time, and have received plenty of financial aid to cover tuition, fees, books, and materials. I have also spoken with the preschool that my boys attend and they have agreed to let me do my community education piece there. Loan Needed For: Fees for First DAN! Doctor Visit (Dr. Demio) in September.

Repayment Terms: One lump sum in March 2009.

Other Notes: "Sawyrr is the youngest of four kids. The only son out of the four. I cried the day he was born. He was so beautiful. They laid him on my chest and he instantly looked up at me with his beautiful eyes. A lot has changed since that day. In a one word, "Autism." Sawyrr is now 2. Although we have managed a few more "eye contacts," Sawyrr is often times still in his own little world. We have him on the GFCF diet and started some supplements on our own. He is still completely non-verbal. The thoughts of hearing him say "I love you Mom" burn my eyes with sadness. I have faith, though, and with that faith we are taking Sawyrr and his ADHD sister to Dr. Demio in September. We are struggling like everyone else I am sure. But coming up with monies for both kids is seeming all too impossible. Until this site. Thank you all who have loaned and all of you who will loan in the future. May God Bless you!"

We will keep all of you updated!!!"

September 12, 2002: Note from Sawyrr's mom, Tami: "I just wanted to give everyone a Sawyrr update. We had a first DAN! appt. on Sept. 9th. We went over some labs we had run prior and WOW! He has the cholesterol of a 45 year old man. Not a very fit man mind you! He was missing some major good Flora. High levels of the bad guys. Throwing out too much zinc. High with most bad metals. White blood cell count higher than what it should be. Basically his little body is a MESS!! We must do an OAT test and a bunch more blood work. We were put on Folinic Acid and b-12 shots, nystain, enzymes, and probiotics. He had his first b-12 shot in the Dr. Office and the next day we noticed he started clicking his tongue and responding more promptly to his name. More aware. This is a child who doesn't talk at all. Doesn't point and who has been bringing us things when he wants them. This is HUGE for us!! No words yet but he has only had one injection and we are just starting out so we are very hopeful!! Thanks for all who loaned us the money for this appt. It was so worth it. Thanks again!! We will keep you updated as more things develop!!!

February 24, 2009: Update from Tami: "Hi all! Sorry it has been a long time since I posted a update.....My apologies!! Well With Sawyrr we have experienced some bumps in the road to recovery. We have had a great experience with b-12 injections. We still experience all kinds of rashes and bumps. At one point he developed hives. Boy are our kids sick!! We are currently starting neubulized Glutanthione. We will start amino acids and Enhansa soon if all goes well. Boy does this stuff add up!!!! Sawyrr still has no words but I feel in my heart we will soon!!! God is SO GOOD!! I must say even when things look bleak he finds a way to surprise me. Thank you for all the benefits that came from all of your loans!!! You are GOOD!!! Thank you and may god bless each and everyone of you!!"

Loan Sought: $500

Loan Needed For: Fees for First DAN! Doctor Visit (Dr. Layton)

Other Notes: "Marcellus is a great, loving child," his mom, Danna, says. "He is great with both his 2 year old sister and his 12 year old brother. He has never needed any types of medicines, but I think between puberty coming up as well as the autism....it is too much." Danna's co-worker Aimee also has a son with autism and has seen great gains with her child using the biomedical approach. She encouraged Danna to seek out a DAN! doctor and try biomedical treatment for Marcellus as well. This loan request is a result of that friendship and support.

August 10, 2008: Promissory note sent to Marcellus' mom for signature.

August 11, 2008: Signed promissory note received from Marcellus' mom.

August 11, 2008: Loan for $500 sent to Marcellus' mom via PayPal.

September 9, 2008: I spoke with Marcellus' mom, Danna. Marcellus' DAN appointment was scheduled for September, but they were overbooked, so they got rescheduled for October 27. I offered to Danna that she defer her monthly repayments until after they go to the DAN (since that's what the loan was for). It just seemed strange to me to have to start repaying the loan before they even got to use it. She took me up on my offer, so the loan will now be paid back in 3 monthly installments starting October 30th instead of this month. I hope that's okay for all the lenders. And, by the way, Danna is sad about the rescheduling because she said Marcellus is getting worse and she is feeling "lost." So please send positive thoughts to Danna to help get her through till Oct. 27th.

October 28, 2008: I emailed with Danna today. Marcellus had his first DAN! appointment yesterday. Here's what she said about it: "It went very well. Of course the first thing they want to change is his diet. There are lots of tests that have to be taken but I definitely think there will be progress. I am very happy!!"

October 31, 2008: First repayment installment of $166.67 received. Repayment was a little less than 10 hours late, but I am going to count it as "on time" since it wasn't a full day late. [If anybody disagrees with this, please let me know. I want our statistics to be accurate and transparent.]

The November 2008 repayment is past due.

The December 2008 repayment is past due.

January 10, 2009: Danna wrote to me and apologizes to her lenders for missing the last two repayments. There has been illness with one of the other children that have kept her focused elsewhere. She plans to pay back the rest of the loan by sending $100 every two weeks. I responded that this was okay. There is $333.33 remaining on the loan.

February 11, 2009: Danna sent $100 of her November 2008 repayment. $66.67 is remaining. I will count this as "late" (instead of "past due") in the site statistics once the $66.67 is received.

February 19, 2009: An anonymous person has paid the $66.67 remaining on Marcellus' November 2008 repayment. The November 2008 repayment is now considered "late" instead of "past due." This person wrote, "This is a gift from someone who is praying for you and felt led by the Holy Spirit to help you."

November 12, 2009: Danna sent $63.00 of her December 2008 repayment. The amount remaining due on the December 2008 repayment is $103.66. This repayment will be marked "past due" until the full repayment has been received.

December 31, 2009: Danna has sent $63.00 more of her December 2008 repayment. The amount remaining due on the December 2008 repayment is $40.66. This repayment will be marked "past due" until the full repayment has been received.

February 18, 2010: The remaining amount due ($40.66) has been received. This loan has now been repaid in full! The December 2008 repayment has been marked "late" instead of "past due."
